My ownership of this bike just gets better and better.

It went in for it's service yesterday so I dropped it off at 8:45, oh yeah it'll be ready for 4:30 no problem. Come 4:45 I get a phone call, the bike isn't ready so it won't be finished until Friday as they're shut on Thursdays.

How can it take 2 mechanics working an 8 hour day each longer than a day to service a bike, fit a set of exhausts and try and clean up some of the rust as the parts are being changed in March.

I also keep asking them to write a reply to a letter I sent 3 weeks ago and another 1 week ago.

Where exactly do you get your bike serviced...?
I'll be sure to give it a wide berth next time I'm in West Sussex.

CMW Motorcycles. I'd go to P&H but I hate the people there aswell, the next nearest dealer is either Snells or Moto Rapido and they're 70 odd miles away.

I bought my bike in Kent secondhand, however the dealer who imported it was called Powerhouse Motorcycles, based in Ashford. Not quite sure how far from you they are but they knew their way around a Duke, give Ducati Ashford a miss though, they cost a fortune.

It just gets better and better and better and better......

They have replaced some of the parts but are refusing to replace the rest as they're claiming I have neglected the bike. My S2R is still in the dealers if they want to see how I neglect my motorcycles.

Also the mechanics set the exhausts up yet set the tickover at about 900rpm so it keeps on stalling and I can't find anything to adjust it. Not even in the manual.

But overal Ducati can shove thier motorcycles up thier arses, I'm fed up with a company that treats the customers like ****. Bends over when I'm shouting at the rep to his face yet calls me a **** behind my back. I am now as every keeps on sugesting, write to MCN, Bike, Ride, everyone and tell them all about this.

All the best from here on DrBob, getting any kind of compensation sounds like it's going to be a struggle, lets hope the dealer eventually sees sense.

You may be interested to know that 'Two' magazine (www.two.tv) are running a 'Longtermers 2006' section covering the SportClassic, although the not the same model as yours I image similar faults will appear thorughout the Classic range.

I love this forum mainly for the fact it has given somewhere to vent my grief. Any other Ducati forum would be argueing the toss because thier beloved company is invincible and never makes a bad bike.

I had a flick through two and couldn't find anything about a longterm Sportclassic, I'll still write to them though. Only stupid thing is a very kind mate has taken it upon himself to very kindly write to Bike and MCN for me. He has just got internet access so is going over the top writing emails etc....

Also I just remembered something else stupid, Ducati told the dealer when they told him that I has neglected the bike that I can take them to court if I want, when I met the rep I told him that I didn't want to take them to court and never would. These people are surposed to be sorting my bike out yet they aren't even talking to each other.

And other thing with the pipes that the mechanics fitted. The bike now refuses to idle above 900rpm when cold and stalls all the time as if the automatic choke isn't working. When it's warm it jumps between 900 and 1200rpm and half the times I roll up to junctions it stalls. It's running hot, rather then 70-80 it's now around 100-110 in winter, and I know they're open pipes but it shouldn't bang and pop as much as it does.

As I say in the Welcome Post, what I was after (when creating the site), was an independant Ducati resource that didn't have to kiss any corporate arse. Was free of official Ducati influence, and NOT created on the back of a dealership or retail concern. But that's just me, I hate having to pay for anything or be a MEMBER and jump through hoops for anybody!

DrBob, Although I love Ducati Bikes, bad aftersales..... is bad aftersales, if you've bought the bike from new, only done 600miles and it's falling to pieces they should be doing all they can to fix the problems and not debating your level of care. If you had bought a Honda you could have left it out in the rain by the sea for 6 months, and you wouldn't have a fastner that couldn't be polished clean!

I was doing the weekly checks earlier and I noticed that the engine paint is peeling off. I can't believe this is actually happening. I have paid a sizeable amount of money for a bike that just isn't worth it after all of this.

All of this shoddy build quality and they're blaming me saying I've neglected it. As I have said before, I will never aslong as I am on this earth buy another Ducati.

A quick update. After numerous phone calls I finally recieved some sort of contact for Ducati, a letter saying how glad they where that I am now happy with the bike and that I am now enjoying it.

I sent a letter back saying that I was still unhappy it was still draging on 6 months later. I recieved on back a few days later saying that the dealer had been contacted on told to sort this situation, and the rep would bre down to look over the bike again and make sure it is sorted this time.
