CTT be aware that to use this kit you have to also change the pins in your tail light plug because you are inverting your blinkers so left becomes right etc so that is another consideration if you are looking at a quick change over from standard to DPcars. Regards, Rob

[quote=Dave G;198271]I have the DPcars tail in the post so may very well ask, was it all spacers or just a couple to alter the angle?
Dave,
Any updates on your tail unit? Did it turn up ok?

Heres the fitted DPcars tail unit, its easy-if a bit fiddly to bolt on.
I'll do without the numberplate light for the moment as I'm rarely out in the evening on this. I've seen a couple of led platelights, and a type of numberplate bolt that has an led light in it, I may even figure out a way to use the oe one.
I've been looking around to see what else I could neaten up,preferably without breaking the bank, and have found a couple of small round tailights and some old looking indicators suitable for old bevels and guzzis etc, these are metal rather than plastic so I'd need to attach them to a bracket or something, but its got me thinking.

CTT, I gave you a bum steer on that one about shortening the L bars, you do not have to shorten them, the end of the L bars ends up on the subframe behind the top mount of the shock absorber and just makes it a bit more fiddly to get the nut on, that is the only problem, sorry about that, Regards, Rob

Rob,
No problem and thanks for the clarification thats good news, I already have an issue in that I had to remove the aftermarket battey guard to get that nut on anyway so it's already a bit fiddly. Ordered my DPcars kit yesterday.
Thanks,
CTT.

The Dpcars is a good set up, I am trying to source a tail light that will fit in between the support bracket and blinkers to go in the bracket holes, (you will know what I am talking about once you receive the kit) to move it all under the very end of the seat

Let us know if you find one shivertown1.
I'm now toying with the idea of replacing the entire rear light cluster,I've been looking around at some 'old fashioned ' looking lights and have found a couple of contenders.
Rear Lamp, Lucas type 477/1, 1951-52 Triumph BSA ETC. on eBay, also Triumph, Motorcycle Parts, Motorcycle Parts Accessories, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 09-Jul-08 22:05:57 BST)
Lucas Rear Lamp MT110 Pre war to 1950 ,Triumph BSA ETC. on eBay, also Triumph, Motorcycle Parts, Motorcycle Parts Accessories, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 06-Jul-08 23:09:06 BST)
REPLICA MILLER 'STOP' REAR LAMP CLASSIC BRITISH/CUSTOM on eBay, also Lighting Mirrors, Accessories, Motorcycle Parts Accessories, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 30-Jul-08 15:05:55 BST)
LUCAS TYPE INDICATOR - T120 T140 NORTON COMMANDO on eBay, also Other Motorcycle Parts, Motorcycle Parts, Motorcycle Parts Accessories, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 23-Jul-08 09:04:33 BST)
If I were to then make a small box bracket to mount these onto and wire all the lights into a plug the same as the oe one this could then bolt onto the dpcars short tail.
Though I really like the look of the old lights the first two seem to be really quite small ( 32 mm across) and I think this may not be visible enough for my own comfort, all of them do have the advantage of incorporating a clear section underneath to make a platelight.
Anyone else got any ideas?

No worries Dave, I think we are after a pretty similar outcome, I have a mate who rides and has his own welding shop and he was looking at fabricating an aluminium tail light casing for me to take the SC light, I will let you Know how we get on. ( DO NOT take any notice of postings of success on a Friday night Austime when we have been burning the midnight oil) Regards, Rob

Fitted my Dp Cars tail unit tonight and am very happy with the result, crying out for a small number plate though. Anyone come up with a numberplate light solution yet?

Just ordered a pair of these as a potential solution for my numberplate light; I'll post the result once they turn up.

dp cars tail unit
Hi all, help needed!
I recieved my tail tidy from dp cars yesterday, my small period black and silver number plate this morning and left off work early today to come home and fit it all in time to blat down to Box Hill this evening. All was going well and disassembled until it came to taking the tail light harness apart. This I manaded fine but there is still 1 wire left attached that when followed runs all the way back down the bike and dissapears into the nether regions near the tank. I have a datatool 4 alarm but this does not look like a post production add in wire as it is encased with all the other wiring coming out of the light assembly. Has anyone else come across this?
What with the weather forecast being good and the unit not fixed it looks like I'm going to have to have tomorrow off as well now to get this resolved!

could be the number plate light as the dp plate does not have one as I am led to believe.
