Update on 'my' Sport 1000

I was here a few weeks ago, having dropped a deposit on a yellow Sport 1000, to come fitted with extras (termis, raised bars, 14/42 teeth, bungs). While I was waiting for these bits to be fitted my finances took a tumble and I had no option but to pull out of the deal, to my grave disappointment

Anyway, yesterday I rang my insurance company, who have told me I can stick the bike onto my classic policy, as a second bike (I run around daily, rain or shine, on a '62 Vespa Sportique). This makes a sizable difference to the bike's monthly outgoings, as the initial quote (from Ducati Insurance) was horrific, and made the deal untenable in my new circumstances. The new quote makes the bike do-able, but only just...

So I'm now at the point where I could grab this bike again, and I'm veering towards it, being the emotional (as opposed to sensible) type.

However, I have slight reservations about buying a single seater. A biposto would be nice, but it will cost much more, and I can't stretch to it.

The point of this post, I suppose (and forgive me, as I've asked the question before) is - does anybody regret purchasing a mono, for the obvious pillion possibility limitations?
Is there a 'mindset difference' between riding solo and going two-up I wonder?

My 749 was a Bip but I live alone the single seat came up for sale and I don't regret it.

My current partner does not like bikes so would never want to go on the back. The previous one loved bikes and wanted to go on the back but she is history.

All depends on your circumstances. As for the shillings you can do without Termis for a while and just ride it

Saw an '06 mono at W-S-M on the 31st which had been 'biposto'd', always an option. Not sure if the spring had been uprated for the single shock, it where p*****g down so didn't get a good look. Think there may be a couple of piccies on W-S-M Bike Night site, follow the link an have a look.

I bought a biposto, the wifes only been on the back once, but still gives me the options, but mainly went for the biposto as it had higher bars and pipes coming out from both sides, which I prefer.

Thanks for the responses.

I took a look at the WSM pix on Flickr and left a comment, hopefully the guy will get back to me.

What would need to be done for the conversion? If I were to go that way?

As I understand it, apart from the seat and establishing some pegs for the pillion, the suspension would need some modification. Not knowing one end of a spring from another I'm lost here.

Anything else to consider with a two-up conversion?
