Brake lever "pulsing"
Firstly it's not a duke, it my wifes learner cruiser...
Single disc, floating disc brake, rubber hose brake pipe.
Failed on a "pulsing" lever, put new pads in, and eyeballed the disc gave a light sand, but still pulsing.
Where should I look now?
Nelson

Warped Disc!
I doubt very much that a learner cruiser bike has a proper full floater on it.

Hi Nelson,
Typically (in my experience) this tends to be caused by a warped disc. Pop it off and have it checked out.
No doubt someone with more knowledge will be along shortly with further suggestions.
Mike
Damn that was fast, Mr R .

If you know a friendly engineer or workshop, you could ask them to put a dial gauge (very sensitive gauge with a plunger that measures movement down to less than 1/1000 of an inch) on the disc while it spins.....if it's warped - likely - then the gauge needle will move and show the amount of runout
Cruder method is to make a pointer of wire etc, fix it firmly to the fork leg and spin the wheel....you maybe able to see any runout with the mk 1 eyeball if it's more than a few thou

Just luck there Moley,
No need to remove the disc to check for run-out, just fix a pointer to the fork leg and see if it touches the disc in one place but not another, if you want to be really pedantic use a dial gauge and see how much the run-out is!

I hoping on another answer than the disc being warped....I eyeballed it and it's not noticably bent.... I dont think I need to check it.....as not mush else to go wrong, so will have to find a new disc, my best guess is it will cost more than the bike is worth!
Thanks for the fast replys

I understand that discs can be skimmed if there is still enough meat on them? Or eBay, perhaps, for cheap spares? Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out.

Ok.....Here goes, but dont laugh....
Its a "w" reg Kymco Zing 125 it's done 17000 Km's
My wife is up the duff, and was planning on selling the bike, but need to get the brakes sorted to get MOT.
I'll see theres a disc on ebay....but ends after my retest expires.
Cheers
Nelson
Ps Thanks for the offer Mike

Contact the ebay seller and ask if they'll accept an offer on the part and end the auction early. But first speak to an importer/dealer and get a quote on the part new so you know what a reasonable offer would be. There may even be a pleasant surprise in a low dealer price (anything is possible). Good luck.
Mike
