Ducati ST2 Gearing - Changing to 14T Sprocket?

I'm thinking about taking front sprocket down to 14T to make the ST2 easier in traffic.

Anyone tried it?

Don't know what effect it'll have on cruising vibes, but should I guess it should pull better.

Just on the off chance, has anyone got an old sprocket that I can borrow, to try first to see the difference?

I did this on my 900ss and the difference is amazing, pulls like a train out of the corners, front wheel gets very light.

You'll love the difference.

Old sprocket is 15t, sold the bike with 14t on it.

jlo, many Multi riders do the same, is the Multi engine the same as yours? I think we may have had this discussion before.

The ST2 engine is based on the 900SS unit, a 14t front should go straight on with no problems and will make the bike more maneagable in town, without any downside really.

916 and 996 are the same and all ST's are common.

I'm checking to see which are the same.

You're right Steve, just found the thread......

Actually, my Multi is really crap at low speed handling and you have to continually slip the clutch, so I might give it a go.

I went down this route 14t on front, always seemed to need another gear. Gave it up after 500 miles, but my ideal was to go up 2t on the rear, much better good acceleration and top speed compromise IMHO

I dropped a tooth on the 916 , best £20 i ever spent , a friend of mine just bought a new Tuono and it has a smaller front sprocket already in the tool kit - nice touch

Big improvement on the 996 for lower speed use, much less snatchy and lot sweeter - recommended 8)
