Tank Bag for an ST

I'm looking to buy a tank bag for the ST2 for the trip down to WDW2007.

The bike came with a Baglux tank cover so I'm considering buying one of those but I'm concerned whether any of the various bags they sell will be too big to see the clocks over - especially the two-tier Omega.

I am also considering a magnetic tank bag as another option.

I'd be interested to hear anyone's comments.

Oh yes, I also have the Ventura luggage system with the large bag, has anyone used it in conjunction with the additional small bag they sell?

I have the baglux cover and tank bag on my ST2. It's fine to see the clocks over, but you wouldn't really want any bigger.

There are some for sale on fleaBay.

Only downside is the Ign key is hard (not impossible) to get at with the bag on.

I have a Baglux kit and tank bag for my Aprilia Luigi. The bag is big enough for all your small stuff, and is no more than about 110mm deep when full....its the smallest one they do. You're welcome to use it for your trip if you wanna see if its the right size to actually buy...its black.....
I've used many a magnetic bag...they get a bit of dust under them and act like sandpaper on your paint......

i recommend bagster... have the tankcover for the ST2 and the 748 und wouldnt use anything else. they even provide extra padding in the knee area... there are bags in all sizes, best check the website (www.bagster.com) the bags sit really secure, even at high speeds. and the fixing mechanism allows to lift the up at the front end to get to the tank when at the petrol station....

the bags can also be worn as a backpack when off the bike.....

I use a Cargo Endurance on my ST3s which is magnetic. Works very well - I use a rubber mesh under the magnets to stop them marking the paintwork.

Tank bag came with a waterproof cover which fits over the tank bag and does keep the rain out - I have just arrived back fronm the Merlin Rally after a 2.5 hour ride in torrential rain and the contents of the tank bag are dry.

Regards

Clive

Mine says Bagster on it too, and yes, it hinges at the front to allow access to the petrol cap, PLUS it has a built in waterproof cover that folds away when not in use and is stored in a little zip compartment underneath. I agree too about the tank cover...I wouldnt use anything else now, they are so easy to attach/detach......

Thanks for the comments. The Bagster / Baglux I guess it is then. :-)

Magnetic? is the ST2 tank metal then (rather than the plastic on the monster)?

Bought my tank bag at the BMF rally yesterday. I went for the Bagster/Baglux Sherpa, a two tier model with about 40 litres storage capacity. The top bag has a zip that doubles it's capacity. However, this makes it too tall to be practical if used with the other bag on the ST2

First impressions riding home were:

lower half of clocks and temp/fuel gauge not visible
much less engine / road noise
more noticeable wind buffeting on shoulders
at 100mph the wind turbulence made my helmet shake which blurred my vision slightly

The bags look good quality and sat well on the bike. The lower bag doesn't have a map pocket though maybe one can be zipped on, that said why not just use the top bag instead?

Further to my last post, I tried just the top bag only and there was no buffeting of my shoulders that time. I was still getting the blurred vision again at speed, but I'm starting to think the new visor I fitted at the weekend may be the cause. I need to experiment a bit more to see what exactly is causing the problem.
