Replacement Horn for ST2 - Suggestions?
I'm looking to replace the feeble standard horn on the ST, and wondered if anyone has suggestions?
I'm looking at the Motrax snails (pair) Anyone know if these are a high and low tone, like the Fiamm's?
Is the Acumen 134 Db horn OK?

With my 888 I fitted a pair of "loud horns, pattern" from motomecca. These are fiamm I think. I wired a relay from the existing horn wiring, powered by an iniine fuse, direct to battery. This worked quite well, but I also found that the original horn was pretty loud if given 12 proper volts, the wiring was the problem!
(As is the sintered clutch isn't noisy enough!)
Cheers,
Chris

Thanks all.
I've fitted one of these (from Halfords) low tone. 136 Db.

Works fine with the existing wiring, draws < 6A so should be OK.
MUCH louder and a very deep tone. Sounds like a big truck.
Next time out I'm gonna test how high pedestrians can jump...

Horn type
Just picked upon this thread....the Stebel low tone is the one I fitted to my MTS, it works a treat. Much better than the feeble squeak given by the standard horn.

Thats a bit personal!!
Seriously, got it from Halfords £13 ish if I remember rightly. They also do a twin tone Fiamm for not much more. The replacement is a p-o-p to do.

Mine was from Halfords too £13.90 something.
If you go for something else check the currant consumption, as the original would be drawing less than 5 amps and the switch and wiring would be rated correspondingly.
If you fit a higher consumption one then you definately should fit a relay and wire directly from the battery (don't forget to fit and in-line fuse tho'
