ST2: Questions from a newbie owner

Hope no one minds a seperate thread for tech questions as well as my "hello" thread...

First up. The mirrors are a bit on the wobbly side on my ST2, is this a case of "They all do that sir" or is there a way to tension the spring if I take the unit apart. The sticky tape I'm using isn't the most elegant of solutions!

Secondly rear suspension. The ride is about 100x better than my M600 but even when on full hard it seems a bit soft, especially as I plan to load it up with luggage. I can't complain about the ride/handling so it might just be me. Can I firm up the suspension directly on the shock and the remote adjuster fine tunes it or is that it? I'm about 12.5 stone so I don't suppose I'm over working it.

Cheers for reading this far!

Welcome to the ST clan. My other ride is also a Monster, the quantum leap is fantastic isn't it?

My suspension (on the ST) is quite hard. It might be that your suspension has gone a bit 'soggy' with age

As for mirrors, mine are solid as a rock, even when on tick-oer and the fairings rattle

Hi
the screws to tighten the mirrirs can be dogs... you might want to replace them. also, when taking the mirrors off to have a look, make sure the metal plates with the threads arent cracked or even snapped. I had that on mine. Had to replace them and since then my mirrors are rock solid again

OK, so mirror dismantling might be the order of the day then. I'm tempted by the judicious use of a couple of small self-tappers in a discrete location to firm everything up.
