Cool Fitting a Ducati ST2 Reg/Rec?

hello
can any one help bought a new reg/rec RR51 type two yellow wires on the drawing it shows a white wire which they say is the charge wire now if i place a 12volt bulb in line with the + on the battery as per the drawing it will light and when i run the engine it will go out is the new rr51 reg/rec at fault or is this the way they are made so that if the light comes on when you are riding the bike it is to warn that the reg/rec is not working plus the reg/rec will not fit back on the bike as it is bigger than the old ducati one will have to find a place for it say in side the fork yokes

Bike: PASO 906

I fitted one to my paso906 last week i just ran the white wire into the feed to the original charge light on the bike on paso its a blue wire. Worked a treat. Do you have access to an st2 wiring diagram ? But surely your set up is working ok? light goes out when charging comes on when not ?

Mike, I dont know where the original reg/rec was on your ST2, but on the ST4 they're behind the air intake grill that sits directly underneath the headlamp.
Hope this helps, Mark.

reg/rec

hello mark
i have just paid a vist to a sheet metal shop and they gave me a 3mm alum 100mmx100mm to fit in under the head lamp or it would req me to cut out a section on the faring ,ref the white wire it will go out when the bike is running but i will have to re wire it as if you follow the drawing you get with the rr51 it is rr51/ bulb /battery which means it is on when you turn off the bike

Fit like from bonny Aberdeenshire! New to the forum and new to Ducatis. All this talk of cooling for the reg/rec has got me worried about the location the previous owner chose to mount the replacement (off a 900SS I think he said) on my ST2. It's on the frame, below the saddle and behind the right hand side rear panel. Can I expect to have to fit a replacement soon or is this reg/rec immune to overheating? It's strange, as the guy obviously went to some trouble to mount it in that position, extending the wires and everything, but I can't see that there will be much in the way of airflow. Any advice welcome.
