NW Ducatisti - A Word of Caution!

Just got back from Runcorn - in the car.

The roundabouts / roads at the end of the A56 off the Southern Expressway - near the M56 Junction and the industrial estate where the Guiness Factory is, are absolutely lethal - wet, and covered in diesel off the HGV traffic......I felt the back end of the porsche break out on virtually every roundabout - and I was literally "tiptoeing" around them.........so PLEASE BE CAREFUL - if you are in this locale on 2 wheels.....

Also - theres a Tax Raising Van parked up in the industrial estate - and I think I may get a tax demand in the next 14 days......36mph - think its a 30 Zone....OOPS!

I know the area reasonably well as my ladyfriend lives in Runcorn.

I just can't get my head around that expressway system I always end up semi lost.

I have sat nav - unfortunately I was concentrating more on not stuffing the porsche in to the bollards on the roundabouts, than I was on rigidly sticking to 30mph, and just crept over on the straight.......bugger - oh well- I stood on the brakes as soon as I spotted it as I came round a bend - but I suspect I'd already been clocked.....time will tell I guess...

Plus after coming off the expressway - 70mph dual carriageway - 30mph seems like you're stood still!

old hunting ground

Hey 998GSB!

I used to live in Helsby, just reminded me of bygone days - didn't have a FSIE like a lot of my mates, just went ínto the YDS7 Yam 250 and then RD250....

A few of my mates lived in Runcorn but I never got used to the estate rat runs - especially the "shopping city" concrete monstrosity.

The slippery bits I remember were - the right hand corner down by the bone/glue factory by the side of the ship canal just outside of Frodsham; the next roundabout up from that going on the expressway/m56 and the slip road down to ICI head office - I must have slipped of my push bike half a dozen times on those stretches

oh yep, just remembered one of first girl friends worked at the Guiness/Bass factory - top deal that was - used to get the employee discount shop benefits on top of everything else Yay!

What are you up to in that neck of the woods?

And in a Porker to boot!?

hahaha Phil - don't jest!

one of my mates kept making excuses for not being out for a beer when we were all out - ended up he was visiting one the mum of one the lads - they didn't speak for a while after the balloon went up!

.....and that was in Runcorn!

That's cos a good proportion of the mums are still in their 20s when their kids' mates start to get interested......

oh yes that is so true!

we were at a wedding at the hotel on top of frodsham hill a while back - several of the moms were "on their own"

i told a tale about "a less than bright scouse mate" getting caught leaving outta the back door - and the husband shouted after him "thanks lad, saved me fakin' an orgasm with the tart tonight"! gotta a few embarrassed sniggers and a few guffaws

Johnny and Kylie, at this point began to rue the day when they had asked Moose to be their Best Man....

errrrrr ackshully - in my defence, i are in much demand for arrrrfter dinner speeches, weddins an the like than you mr 998gsb

(the best off the cuff I can recall was at my best mates wedding - while delivering the best mans reply a guest shifted their chair resulting in a lifelike flatulence of considerable volume - my comment of "speak up at the back brown, I didn't quite get that last remark" brought the house down )
