Ah Fishbourne Palace, I remember going there when I was in primary school but they've extended it all and added loads of new stuff since then, mind you that was nearly 20 years ago.

Which route are you planning on taking down from London?

I don't know, tbh, as I have rarely left London. Will make a weekend of it, so can avoid motorways. Any advice? Will be coming from Chelsea, if that's any help.

Haven't made any plans yet, so can't say when I'm heading that way. May just swing it on a non-rainy weekend.

The A34 all the way until it meets the A40, and then it meets the A27 at Fontwell to Chichester.

If you get lost at all Bognor Regis is signposted a long way out and is 5 miles awaay from Chichester.

I'm confused: that route takes me to Oxford, then close to So'ton?

I'm not good with maps, though.

Wrong way. The A24 to the A29 and then the A27 sorry, was thinking of another route via Guildford/M3 way. This is why I gave up dispatch riding.

The A24 will take you out to Epsom, Reigate, Horsham, but just before Horsham you'll meet the A29.

Cool, nice straight route! Leave Chelsea early, breakfast at Box Hill and arrive at Fishbourne in time for lunch!

Thanks for that DrBob! I'll let you know when I'm going, and will post pics of the mosaic floors.

I think I need to explore the A272 more this year. It recent years we use the A86/A287 coming from the Bracknell area down the A31 to farnham and then on down, loverly roads and usually able to do 50+ quite easy.
Also, I think the A281 is quite good going over to Brighton, just short of there is a bikers stop, can't remember the name off the top of my head, great ride though.
