If you're in the area, Compton Abbas airfield is only a couple of miles from ZigZag, it's got a nice cafe and quite a few bikes stop off there at weekends.
Definitely up rather than down!

Peak District

This run always brings a grin to my face,

Head out of South Sheffield on the A621 Baslow Road through Totley. Arond Owler Bar and onto a section of twisty road locally known as the 'thirteen bends.' This is still the A621 and heads all the way down to Baslow. Take the A623 to Calver then turn right at the Aire arms up Froggatt to Fox House for a shandy.

Marvelous

That's a tidy little run with the obligatory truckstop cafe on one of the most scenic bends, from which you get a great vantage point to watch bikes coming down or going up the hill. I take the BSA/Triumph up there all the time but haven't tried it on the Duke yet. (Only problem on the Brit bikes is constantly being overtaken by the test pilots on Jap bikes who like to use it as a kind of drag strip.)

I think it depends on what time we get away from Taunton.

But if we don't I reckon we should set off early one summer Sunday morning and make a day off it
