Hi Jay - can't advise on the route you suggest - apart from to say that Gravelines & Dunkerque are well signed off the dual carriageway almost as soon as you get off the ferry/tunnel.

Went to Assen for the MotoGP & used the dual carriageway all the way - avoid at all costs.....

YYaaaawwwwnnnnnnn!!

Got to say tho' mate - it'll be a fab trip, I was almost tempted to go that way but didn't have time. Try AA Autoroute for some maps!

Kind of late reply. Apologies in advance to anyone from this area but theres not a whole lot to see, the D940 is OK up to Dunkerque but nothing special. Dunkerque is sprawling but if you carry on the D601 a little way up the coast Veurne has a pleasant old town square with coffee and cake shops and bike parking in the square.

Also

The coast road running from Calais west to Boulogne is good, the Cote d'Opal. For more info, see this link:

BestBikingRoads.com Motorcycle Travel, Motorcycle Touring, Motorcycle Routes, Motorcycle Roads, Motorcycle GPS, GPS Motorcycle Rides, Motorbike Roads

As is the coast road running from from Gent west.

If your trying to find scenic routes in unknown places there are special pieces of software such as On-Route (on-route.com) that can do this.

Shameless plug there David! BUT - to anyone who has never visited the site - it's well worth a looksee! Tons of info, vids, pics, GPS, riding notes, good descriptions. Try it.

Recently rode that stretch of road and it was much better than the m'way IMO. If you are in a hurry don't use it as there are lots of speed restrictions..
