Insurance
Hi all.
It's that time of year again and the insurance is due for renewal.
Any recomendations before I start the labourious task of phoning around for quotes.
And why is it that you spend 10 minutes giving them your details only to tell you they can't offer you a policy?
jon.

I've consistently found Ebike ( eBike Insurance - Bike and Classic Bike Insurance from eBike Insurance) to offer the best deal; lowest premium but also the lowest excess. And, you can add lid & leathers cover, and they offer a day cover for the CSS for just £60. It includes legal cover and UK breakdown.

I go through bikesure. They provide a multi bike policy and i find them to be the cheapest every year.

I've used Bennetts for the past four years. No hassle cover sorted when I've swopped bikes. Helmet & leather cover thrown in. Road Side Assistance (that delivers on its promises!) thrown in. And they continue to sponsor BSB.
And the premium for the 999s FC is less than £500.

Like Paivi, I'm with e-bike. Heard the money expert man on the Jeremy Vine show today, he confirmed my experiences that new policy holders are usually offered better deals than existing customers. The loyal customers tend to be taken for granted. I'll be applying as a new customer & comparing the quote with my renewal premium when the time comes.

if you challenge your insurance company on the prices they offer new customers, though, they will usually bend a little!
Express Insurance for me, for my bike and my car

A strange thing has just happened !!!!
I went on the internet to get some quotes and many were £50-£60 cheaper than my current insurer.
I then went on to the MCE insurance web site, filled out all the details and got a quote for over £8,000!!!!!
Is it me !!!!!
Within minutes the phone rings and a nice lady from MCE explains that some times the computer gets it wrong.
She then asks me the best quote I have had and offers to beat it. So now I have a quote with a saving of over £100.
Just shows you some one is making a lot of money and it isn't me.

I bought a 749 in 2005 and living in London (age 43) with 2 years NCD went with Ducati insurance at £698 FC
2006 saw it drop to £565 and the renewal for 2007 only went down £40 to £525. I wasn't happy with that so I went with Bennetts and got it for £260 FC which made me smile but couldn't understand why Ducati insurance hadn't reduced their insurance in line with others.
Three months later in Sept 07 I sold the 749 and bought a Hyper S. I thought the insurance would be cheaper as I now had 4 years NCD and it wasn't a superbike - how wrong I was!!
Bennetts didn't want to know and couldn't even find it on their system. They eventually came back and said in their opinion that the bike was far too risky. Other major insurers were the same with one exclaiming that it was a hooligans bike! I couldn't get a quote under £1,050 FC
I went back to Ducati insurance and they gave a quote for £430 FC which I took.
IMHO insurers don't do nearly enough to keep customers who have a claims free history and it would seem that regularly moving insurers is the way to keep your costs down.
I could go on for sometime about insurers as being money grabbing b......s but prefer to divert my energies elsewhere. Instead, I classify them in the same category as tax inspectors and parking wardens.

I have used most of the brokers but I've now gone through Ducati Insurance who beat all the others. Like Paivi I used e-bike because they were easy to use online and competative, until I had a claim, they were absolutely shocking. I would willingly pay more to avoid such shoddy service. As they say, you pays your money you take your chance..........

Correct. Not only do they not reward you for staying put, they penalise you by quoting you more than they would a new customer. It's the way the business works. I change car insurer every year, and even though I generally stay with CN for the bikes I always significantly undercut their renewal premium by simply taking out a new policy online.
