Insurance: best service (as opposed to best quotes)?

We get lots of threads on which insurers are cheapest, but not so many on whose service has been impressive when it mattered at claim time. My hunch is that - by and large - you get what you pay for, but I'd be interested to hear of people's experiences on this.

1098 insurance

Just getting quotes for the new bike. Up grading from the 999 2003 to the new 1098. Feck ME £220 for the next 6 months when the renewal is due. That is with Ducati Insurance which I have always been with since I got the bike.
What companies does the Ducatisti's insure with ?

Ducati Insurance/Equity Red Star, Had a slight bumy ride to start off with when I was left stranded in France 2 years ago, but after that blip service has been exellant considering the 2 write offs I suffered in 06. They even managed to get my replacement Monster put onto the same policy which had 6 months to go and had suffered 2 write off claims.

I am still with them 2 renewals later so hope that states something.

I've used Bennetts for the bike insurance since 2003. They have always proved to be helpful and straight to deal with. Swapped bikes and they hunted to find the best prices then discussed pros and cons. All without prompting from me. They offer free leathers and helmet insurance and breakdown service.

And they sponsor the BSB so do 'give' something back.

Ducati Insurance seem to have quite a good rep - see below. Quite a few report low quotes from eBike but I'd really like to hear what their customer service is like, hence this thread. And I guess a fair few of us are with Carole Nash. I've stuck with them despite their not being the cheapest because of their decent rep, and their inclusive prices (i.e. legal and breakdown); and I've always beaten their renewal quotes by miles by simply taking out a new policy online.

Interesting, thanks. That's exactly the kind of experience I was hoping to hear, i.e. what companies are like when it actually comes to paying out.

Bike: 1098S Tricolore

I'm insured with Norwich Union via Ducati Insurance. The quotes are pretty comparable with the marketplace, and when I wrote-off my 5 month old 1098 Tricolore last year, they even bought me a brand new one. They then charged me just a £27 admin fee to carry the insurance on to the end of the policy year for the new bike. This year's renewal....£5 less than last year

I think that generally sticking with the more familar names like Bennetts or Norwich Union is a fairly safe bet of decent service, even thou they may not be the cheapest!

Wow

Just put a quote to my Ducati insurance whom I have been with since I got the 999. FECK me slowly and cover me in baby oil........ On top of the £186 I pay now they want another £200 on top that will take me up to September when it needs renewed. I take it that means £200 for just the 6 months. What will the quote be for next year? MUMMY !!!!!!!!!!!!
