I can get insurance from Poland as I am polish. I would have to register the bike in Poland (my parents address) and then I can insure it there. They will cover it in UK including theft but any accident repair has to be done in the country. If bike is rid able it is your duty to get it there if not they take care of it. Conclusion when you crash, crash proper and not drop at 0mph.

To reply, yes they can if you are Danish, Swedish or a EU resident of a country you want to get insurance from. You need to have an address there to register the bike. Oh yes an equivalent of MOT will have to be done as some point.

my parents live in DK and I can easily move the bike into a Danish address, however all danish bike owners pay 180% atop of the original bike price for the registration fee!!! Yes thats true, a standard 848 costs around £25,5k. So it would be cheaper for me to get a 4-7k insurance here in UK

But maybe theres a way around this.. I must figure it out.

One other thing to remember....our esteemed government insists that those who live and ride here register the bike here. For those coming to the UK who are unsure if they will stay (or for any reason really) there is a period of grace of 6 months when you can legally ride with the "country of origin" registration/MOTtest/Insurance. After that...gotta be registered here.

Here is the relevant Government info on riding a foreign registered bike/car (called temporary import, in that quaint Government-speak of which we are all so fond)

Temporarily importing a vehicle : Directgov - Motoring

And here about permanent import

Registering an imported vehicle : Directgov - Motoring
