I bought my ST4s last July and rang several brokers. The best deal I could find was through Ducati Insurance - £349 fully comp, no NCB, incl 60 days European cover, bike garaged at home.

Morning all,
Just to provoke a bit of a 'why is insurance so high' debate, out here (Dubai) my 749 is 200 quid fully comp with no NCB, no immobiliser / alarm fitted, parked in public car park overnight and Termi racing zorst fitted which in the UK would invalidate insurance
Ahhhhhhhh, the Middle East does have some benefits and one of them is that insurance companies can't stripe us bikers up

Maybe it's because you are a cat wearing a grapefruit on your head. Us humans tend to get cheaper quotes!

£18,000 a year to insure a Desmosedici fully comp, what gets me is they tell you like they assume you'll buy the policy. Bennetts always send something in the post asking if you want to buy it with the price on there aswell so I'll scan it and stick it up.
Can't remember who my insurance is with, probably expired for all I know. E Rider or somthing, it's with Equity Red Star in the end anyway.

How is this even possible?!
Were you quoting for no security, parked on the street, business use and an annual mileage of 20,000?

So I won't be getting insurance on my Desmosedici just have to ride it without insurance and hope 200bhp is enough to out run the cops :P or I could register the bike in my Dad's name and get insurance on my 749 and ride the Desmosedici on the 3rd party cover on that policy

SDP including commuting and unlimited mileage. Medium risk postcode off the street but not locked up. My occupation had to be listed as a student which pretty much shat on it straight away anyway.
No extra security as if someone wants it they'll nick it anyway regardless and load it in a van before you know what's going on. I'd rather they didn't wake me up with an alarm while they're doing as you'll never catch them if you are woken up anyway.
On the subject of getting on to parents insurance my old dad pays £95 a year tpft on his Bandit, to put me on as a second rider it knocks it up to over £400. To insure me on thier car policy it's only an extra £15 and that's just the cost of the new paperwork.

Ducati Insurance
Try Ducati insurance - they're excellent - I pay £300 fully comp for my 998s FE - SDP, garaged, 5 years NCB. Age 36. Bike modded with Carbon Race Termis and Race 996r ECU and Dynojet Power Commander.
They were 400% cheaper than anyone else!!!! :P

I ended up with Bike Team, very reasonable & the same underwriters as my SV. They were very decent when it was nicked.
