Insurance for extended stay in Europe

Hi all

I am in Denmark at the moment and we have transferred an employee from the UK to work in Denmark for a year. He has been here for 4 months and now the weather is improving he is bringing his bike over from the UK on the 17th April. I have just been talking to him and he has a problem. At the moment he can only find insurance for stays outside the UK for up to 60 days. He is not a resident of Denmark so can not get Danish insurance.

Can anyone help? BTW he doesn’t ride a Ducati but I hope that does not stop us from helping him!

Thanks

Suze

Hi Suze,
You have touched on a very sore spot for me here! I live in Spain and still have an english registered bike. I have had to get spanish insurance as, as you have mentioned, the max cover out of UK is 60 days. A real pain in the a**e! I for one, no of no other way around it. If I take out a years policy, I can claim back the months I don´t use, however, never the full amount!
Sorry I cannot help but this is my experience.

Richie.

You must be able to get them, probably third party only. My parents spend up to six months of the year abroad and they're covered by their insurance, fully comp, actually.

Also, don't forget that some people spend months at a time touring the world, and to enter most countries, they have to show a proof of insurance. Might be worth your while checking the Horizons Unlimited site for any advice.
