Yeah Last year Digger.....and never again!

We insured better halfs mini cooper S convertible with them.

3 months ago we got a call from some dweeb - which went basically like this...

Him - "Im ringing to let you know that we are going to have to cancel your insurance as your vehicle description is incorrect and does not exist...."

Us - "Pardon??"

Him Repeats

Him "We have been advised by the underwriter that they have refused to pay out on circa 100 policies with Mini Copper S Convertibles as they are not convertibles they are cabriolets, and there is a difference."

Us "But it says Mini Cooper S Convertible on the sales brochures, the V5 and even the handbook - so it must be a Convertible ?"

Him "No - its a cabriolet and your insurance is void - we are sending you a new policy but dont worry - the problem arose with the manufacturer misdescribing it not you, so the new policy will be free for 12 months -"

Us "Great"

Following week.........

Dweeb rings again

"Hello its Dweeb again, about your Mini Cooper S insurance, when I told you it would be free, I made a mistake, it will actually go up £300 more than your current premium, but as your old poilcy has two months until renewal, we'll honour the policy until its expiry".....

To be perfectly honest - they were a nightmare - and wouldn't go near them again..

i will probably not bother with them then. I have called my present insurer and they gave me a reasonable quote which was about £20 more than last year but i didn't have the duke last year, i had a zzr & gt550, they told me to have a look around and call them back and they'll "try" and match.

thanks for the info..

PO gave me a cheap quote for 3 bikes but there was no legal cover, no breakdown cover and £500 excess.
Paid about £80 more for cover with legal and breakdown included and only £100 excess.

Oh, almost forgot, because depreciation is a fact of life, I saved about £40 by reducing value of most expensive bike by £1000.

sorry jim,
my post is misleading because I didn't mention that the more expensive policy I took out was with CN not the PO, mostly due to the included services and the much smaller excess.

After checking CN, PO and DI, i went for DI.. CH were outrageusly expensive this time, don't know why!!!! PO was a lot more than DI...DI also had a lower deductible... 240 fully comp fro 3 bikes, NCB protected and b/down cover.... If I had left the Mltistrada off, it would have been 128 pounds for the BMW & 750ss......
