Ducati Insurance - Well worth a try!

I got my insurance renewal through from my broker the other day, and it was like "How Much? " (Best part of a £1000 fully comp). (Me - 5 yrs plus NCD, no convictions, IAM member, 36yr old professional, bike alarmed, immobilised, locked in a garage, and not located in an area akin to Beirut)

I rang Ducati Insurance, and they couldn't have been more helpful. Were really cool about the mods on the bike - carbon bling, cans and power commander etc.... Fully comp they quoted me £350, less another 15% when they found I'd done my advanced riding test with IAM.

Spoke to my existing insurers, and you could hear their jaws hit the floor - couldn't match it or come any where near it....... so if you are hunting about for insurance, Ducati Insurance are well worth a try - they just saved me best part of £700. Try them, you might be surprised.

Ducati Insurance were by far the cheapest when I first bought the bike two years ago. This renewal Carole Nash were best, particularly when you consider they include free breakdown cover. Mine's only 3rd party though.

I've just renewed the insurance on my '96 748 SP and was pleasently surprised. Looked around and found Bennetts would do it for £190 fully comp with £450 xs. Told Carol Nash this and they quoted £209 fully comp with £100 excess. Went with Carol Nash in the end.

Oh, I've got 4 years NCB and I'm 37.

One last thing, if you want to go to the Bennetts web site, google it first, because "Bennets is the pemier gay nightclub in Glasgow", I found out.

I just gave them a call to cover my new 749s - I'm 33, have no no claims - they wouldn't cover it fully comp without a years no claims..

Yeah ... I sort of remember something like that.

I remember paying £990-odd for insurance on a ZX-6R when I just passed. But I could only get TPFT. A bit gutted when some bloke reversed into it, got out to have a look, and then took off. Took a year to track him down.

I found that Ducati Insurance are great when taking the money but were absolute **** when making a claim. All i got was "Oh we will send you a form." From then on i was dealing with a hopless NU call centre in Belfast who gave me the old "the cheque has been posted" line for three weeks until i eventually got to speak to the manager who told me she had not even authorised the paymant yet. Rubbish.

Interesting. I too got great quotes from Ducati Insurance [online] but in the end stuck with Carole Nash [1] because Ducati didn't offer [at least online] to protect my NCD, and [2] because CN's reputation is so reassuring.

Bike: 2002 Ducati ST4s

I paid about £350 fully comp last year on my ST4s - back to biking after a 20-year layoff, no NCD etc. Ducati insurance were at least £100 cheaper than anyone else. Renewal this year came down to just over £200 after passing the IAM test but they couldn't beat Devitts - £184
