£110...
You sure, I asked.... yup they said.... I said "result...!!"

Not wanting to wish my life away...but thats so annoying to see how cheap it gets the older you are (not saying 45 is old by the way James....!! )
The other thing that is really unfair with insurance companies is that they dont seem to recognise IAM or ROSPA.....
I hold an IAM advance licence but when I've tried to pass this info on to them there not interested........dont seem right to me...they should be promoting safe driving not dismissing it....
Goes to show, all there worried about is Age, Sex, Points, BHP, Make and model..oh yeh and the cost to replace........Makes ya sick dont it!!!

Ducati Insurance recognise it - I got either a 10 or 15% discount at renewal when I passed my IAM test

Tried carlo nash but they would not cover my paint job on the bike. Bikesure wanted over1200, seems to be the paint job is my problem. Ebike are my current insurer and come in at 605 but I still think it is pricey. Does anyone else have this problem with bikes that have replica paint jobs? or am I being tight ars?

Think ya being a tight ar*e bud.......!!!!!!
Lol....only joking...
I reckon the quote you got with your current insurance is about right mate.....
It's fair to say that anything that is modified will get the insurance bod's scambling for the 'bump up the quote' books........
Reckon what ya should do is buy some standard red panels, tank etc...then buy the race replica sticker set, insure as a standard 749, then stick the stickers on.....if ya have a spill just peel them off........no ones gonna know the difference.....lol...

i think so to but its worth ringing around. Just tried insuremyducati.co.uk and they would only cover the paint job for 500.00 but the premium was 495, overspent at xmas.....I am 5ft 10 with short arms and deep pockets!....Lol . Thanks everyone for your ideas.

Is your bike a 'R' version 749 or has it had an after market race rep paint job?
If thats the case I'd ring a few race rep paint shops and see what it would cost to get panels repaired it you was to damage them..this way you can see if its worth insuring the bike as a rep or a standard BIP or S (if it's not an 'R')
Thats what I'd do if I had a standard Duke with an after market paint job.....
I would just worry about the market value of the standard bike and if the fairings got damaged get them fixed myself.......
Panels/tanks etc are so easy to come by at the moment........

Umm you people seam to be paying quite alot for your insurance!
ESPECIALLY AS YOUR REALLY OLD!!!!
i am 25 and pay £475 for my 996 with 2years NCB and on a fully protected policy! and its Fully comp!
I am with a place called Riders Choice! now you may ask how i got it so cheap!
all you do is play mind games with them! and only use 0800 numbers as then its free to do so! i literally told the first place what i wanted to pay for my insurance! they quoted me what i wanted to hear and from there the price just fell! i started off at £800 and what a result i got! you just ring the 2nd place and tell them that you were quoted say £700 from place one so they come with a better offer! then you ring place 1 back and tell them sorry place 2 has come up with said offer! they will then wanna beat it and will get back to you, Whilst you are waiting for the Requote you then Ring Nos 3 & 4 and tell them both the lowest quote you have had! they will then also wanna beat this so they under quote place 2 then you ring place 2 back with this new quote and guess what off they go to beat that...anyway i think you get my drift, you can almost squeeze the profit out of them so its a great game and i feel happy with what i pay!
(sometimes they wont and just say thats good quote go with it, i tried 9 places till i had my 4 for the fight! it can take a few days but its worth it )
have Fun Ollie

Ebike do, too. They even recognise BikeSafe.

This is frustrating; I cannot get insurance quotes on line from anybody, so I'll be spending most of Monday calling loads of companies with exactly the same info.
Some (e.g., Carole Nash) don't recognise the 695, some have Datatool finishing in series 3, some don't have Almax as a chain, some won't let me add my claims/convictions.
Can't even get a renewal quote, as Ducati Assurance put a "Fault claim, costs not recovered" claim on my ebike quote as a result of my asking them for advice after my crash! Seems impossible to get this removed so I could get a proper quote. As far as ebike are concerned, I've lost my NCB and am looking at a fully comp premium of £900 for both bikes! Guess they'll be taking a running jump, as last year I paid about £400 for both, so I'd expect this to come down.

I was with Ducati Insurance last year, as they were the most competitive, but when I rang round this year Devitts just beat them. Both give a discount for IAM or RoSPA advanced test. We've got my daughter's CG125 with Devitts and am about to insure an ER-5 for my son with them once he passes his Direct Access. I keep ringing round but haven't found anyone to beat Devitts yet. Bennets and Carole Nash are both expensive by comparison.

I'd best get on to Carol Nash as I seem to be being ripped of here,
I'm with Carol Nash, 54 with 7yrs NCD and my 996 is £289.23p Fully Comp.

When I got a online quote from ebike I got a discount for my IAM pass.
I could check this by going back and removing the IAM tick box. It was interesting to see which "advanced" tests merited a discount and which do not

Don't forget guys and gals, another factor in this insurance lark is how much excess are you having to pay if the worse happens and you do have to make a claim. Obviously the higher the inital excess then the cheaper the policy should be in the first place but does it actually work like that. Then there's the post code lottery, you might expect to pay more in central London than in the wilds of Northumberland but again is that true in practice??

Duke996... that's £110 EXTRA for the 888 - the total bill for the Bandit and the 888 came it at (a still respectable) £311.77 - not bad at all considering I have only 2 years NCB.
The reason the 2-bike premium came in so low was that the policy came from a newish company looking to get into the market, so my premium was something of a promotional 'special' if you like - landed on my feet for once....
Just thought I should clear that one up..!!
James.
