Interesting letter Duke996special.

Looking at that list of non-standard parts I think it reflects pretty well on them that they paid out. I'm sure plenty of other underwriters would have jumped on the opportunity not to. (Just a thought, but d'you want to edit that letter so that your home address and presumably location of nice Duc isn't all over the net?)
Ooopps, did'nt think about that.

So why haven't you amended it yet to black out the address details? Making it far too easy for bike thieves to find you. But each to his own, I suppose. How about posting details of your security measures as well?

Really gutted for you JetSet. It's the last thing you need but as people have said, stick with it, don't give up & be persistent. It seems that if you become a right pain in the arse you get better service.

Best of luck.

Insurance companies job is to take your money and avoid paying any out. Simple as that.
Their first reaction will ALWAYS be " sorry you are not covered because of xyz".
Persevere and you will get payment. However this is a reminder to all of us to declare modifications to the insurers to minimise this kind of bother.
Adam.

Maybe a solocitors letter would help, I don't think it costs a fortune to get one written. Your insurance company would certainly know you mean business then. They may not wish to risk a court case with the threat of costs to pay.
Good luck

If you sent the form which has details of carrying passenger & ban/DD40 to the broker, then it would be worthwhile sending a solicitor's letter to the broker demanding access to view the original form together with all notes / recordings associated with your file.

Given that they appear to have revised your policy re passengers then they must have received the form - if it's a double sided sheet, then it's quite possible the broker has just photocopied one side & forwarded that to the insurer - hence it's worth demanding access to personally view the documents.

Is your KTM insured with the same people? If so, and the ban/DD40 is declared on those documents, then you'd be in a much stronger position as you'd be unlikely to tell them the details for one bike & not the other!

If you're still not getting anywhere, then try contacting the FSA and / or the insurance ombudsman - my guess is that if you involve these two then it would probably be more cost effective for the insurer to pay out on a stolen bike (which in the greater scheme of all things insurance is a relatively small sum compared to personal injuries, etc) than stump up for the manhours(and any fine from the regulators!) required to deal with any investigation.

Just be glad you didn't have undeclared Termis etc - then they could walk away from your claim & there'd be nothing you could do about it!

Fingers crossed it all works out ok!
