Big insurance saving.
The insurance renewal for my 748 R and M750 was due today. My present insurers Ducati insurance had sent me their quote of £435 including bonus protection and legal protection but I thought I'd call a few others first. I Played a few companies against each other, most were around the £350 mark. Carol Nash excelled themselves as usual by quoting over £500. The best I found was £335 from express insurance. I was quite happy with that but thought I'd try a couple of other companies later in the evening as I had chores to do around town. Got back from town about 7pm and found a message on my mobile saying the best they could do was £320! result. I tried one more company (they wanted £390) before calling back Express and going with them. (After I put the phone down I realised of course that I'd been riding around town earlier without insurance in 'hazardous' conditions - heavy rain and rush hour, oops!)
Anyway £115 less than my previous insurers. I wasn't expecting that so I'm pretty happy. The excess was better with them though, £250 as opposed to £450 which is pretty high, but then Ducati Insurance weren't to know I'd had a fault accident in a car in June this year. Although I have protected no claims the accident might have had an influence on all the companies I tried, they all had excesses of £450 -£500.
Even if you're happy with a quote its obviously worth hanging on till the last minute before actually accepting it as the company may get back to you with a better one as they did with me.

blimey that sounds steep on a 750ss, I only insure mine TPFT and its £103 with a £250 excess.
It does have some advantages being a bit senior.

Certainly is worth shopping around, aye.
Some insurer quoted me £560 TPFT (believe it of not).
Mine is £97 TPFT including Euro Cover with an excess of £250 via More Than.

I have to agree, Express work really hard to get your money. They send a renewal out for one figure, you phone them and they say "that sounds a bit steep" so they drop it, then you say I'm willing to pay in full right now if you make it even better so they drop it again. Don't know anyone who has made a claim with them though.
