Insurance Question - If Bike's Written Off?
I your bike's written off and you are paying your insurance monthly, do you have to continue paying the monthly premium?

Yes because you are spreading the cost of that yearly premium over a number of months to suit you I guess.

And what's worse is that once they pay out, you have to take out a new policy and pay again. Happened to a friend of mine who had his bike stolen. He got a new one then had to buy another insurance policy for it.
That was £800 for old policy, then £500 excess, followed by over £800 to insure his new bike.

Bugger! I thought that when i get my new bike I'd just get the policy swopped to that bike. Oh well at least I've only got two payments left =£100.

I must have missed something, thought the damage on yours was not too bad. They have written the bike off then. Are you replacing with the same?

I've been saying to Mrs Mental that I''l use half the money to buy myself a better car and the other half on a bike. But something's caught my eye and it's got two wheels. Just got to wait for the cheque to come through now.

Unfortunatly you cannot generalised like that, it varies between Insurance companies. As most people will know, I've recently had my 1098 Tricolore written off. My Insurance company, Norwich Union through Ducati Insurance, have just paid for a brand new one. My policy is still in force and the only charge levied was a £28 admin. fee to substitute one bike for the other.

When I had the 'Priller borrowed in April, the replacement Multi was insured on a continuation of the old policy. That was with Hastings via Bennetts, all it cost was an admin fee + excess. Oh and a loss of NCB too.

I will generalise and I still believe that all insurance companies are thieving b*stards
And in my defence I was referring to a bike that was stolen not written off. And anyway, I can't be right all of the time, I am a man afterall.

No i'm afraid it wasn't. I stand accused of being someone stating something that obviously has no relevance to this thread SORRY TO ALL I HAVE MISLEAD
As I said in my first thread, a friend of mine who had his bike stolen and then claimed, following his insurance paying out, the policy was then closed and he had to take out a new policy for his new bike. This happens alot as so many insurance companies won't insure different models of bike. I once tried to swap over my RGV's insurance to my CCM's and they said they couldn't, so had to cancel one policy and take out another. Thieving B*stards
