Ducati Roadside Assistance

Anyone had to use this in this country?

My insurance renewal is up soon and I can get a 'bells & whistles' assistance for about £50.

Should I splash the cash or rely on Ducati's 'free' service?

whichever service you go for,get one that does not break up the journey to habd you over to another van at the edge of their territory, but one that will take you all the way in the same vehicle, some bank accounts now offer breakdown cover too.

To be honest I have a multi vehicle cover anyway via RAC 2 cars 2 bikes, but if my ducati broke down I would be using the ducati assistance. The problem is its only when you come to use any breakdown service that you find out how bad they are. I would hope that at least being a manufactured led breakdown assistance that at least someone with a inkling of recovering a bike would turn up.

I would say save your money and utilise what you paid for when you bought the bike. Remember in the event of a accident which causes your bike to be immobilised requiring recovery you will find the RAC and AA won't simply do this as they don't class it as recovery. From memory in the small print of the Ducati one you are covered. Plus you have full europeen assistance for first 2 years of buying the bike from new.

Well, I have to admit that when I had my off the RAC were absolutely excellent. Luckily I had an RAC patrol behind me, but the guy not only assisted me at the scene, but called in a collegue with a bike trailer. They then took the bike home and even put it up on it's paddock stands in my the garage. They actually sorted the bike out quicker than the NHS treated me in casualty...top guys.

Won't knock the RAC guys round Bristol as most are bikers, I even had my tyre plugged last year when I was just leaving Yate for Mallory, phoned my mate who was on shift, called it in and 15 minutes later he turned up in his van and got me on the way, unfortunelty like most things there are some bad guys around who shouldn't be let near a car let alone a bike, how they got through the RAC skills centre I do wonder and then to be let loose on the general public.

With the bike I have been lucky, but i did get left on the M5 by Cribbs by the RAC for a long time, had a double offside blowout on my car, and put call in at 02:00, I finally got home at about 07:00, the call centre had sent recovery to junction 5 of the M5, putting it simply I was fuming with them. It ended up costing them some when I put my claim in, and then on renewal asked how they could attempt to justify the price with that had happened so they even reduced that.

Alas it doesn't always follow. I remember someone posting on this forum that they rang Ducati Assistance when their 1098 broke down, and was asked whether it was a diesel.
