I know there are a few posts on the board for this already, however without offending this will be the official and only one that will matter from now on. Could I ask that everyone uses this one from now on please and I will post any developments and info as I get it on this thread.

I will try and address everything with the following list.

THE EVENT IS FREE TO ENTER FOR EXHIBITING ENTRANTS AND THE VISITING PUBLIC. THE EVENT IS BASICALLY A MEET WITH A 9 MILE RIDE INTO BRISTOL WITH BETWEEN 100-150 OTHER ITALIAN BIKES, PARK UP ITALIAN STYLE IN CLOSED OFF STREETS WITH EVERY ITALIAN CAR MARQUE YOU CAN THINK OF AS WELL, AND THEN BE ENCOROUGED TO START UP AND MAKE AS MUCH NOISE AS POSSIBLE.

THE MEETING PLACE
The meeting place will be junction 19 of the M5 motorway in the car park of the motorway services at Easton In Gordanno. We will meet in the far corner near the raised grass bank. (This is out of the way of where the cars tend to park and as the bank is raised, will provide a good vantage point to photograph the masses of bikes. It will also keep us out of the way of the main building and any complaints from the services manager).

THE DEPARTURE TIME
We will meet at 09oohrs with a departure time of 0930hrs. (This will give us 30 minutes to travel the 9 miles or so into Bristol and enter the festival for 1000hrs as requested by the organisers.)

THE ROUTE
The route will be out of the main entrance of the services and turning left onto the A369 towards Bristol, We will then make an immediate right turn into High Street (Portbury Village), once in the village we will follow the road around to the left and onto Mill Lane. The route will now rise up through a series of bends and carry on through woods and forests. At the end of this road we will meet the B3128 and turn left following the signs for Failand and Bristol. We will follow this road and go straight across at the traffic light controlled cross roads and carry on following the B3128 as it twists and turns and drops down through more forests until it meets the A370. Once on the A370 we will then follow the signs for Bristol City Centre over the cumberland basin bridge and then follow the A4 towards the centre. We will enter the centre and keep right turning back on our selves before following the road left and into Baldwin Street. The entrance that we must take into the festival is on the left with a dropped kerb at the Edwards Public House. Duncan and Co will endevour to park you up promptly. (I have left out the Clifton Suspension Bridge due to the fact that we have the start stop issue when approaching the bridge and once we have crossed it, to allow people to catch up. It was a bit of fun last year and a bit of an experiment to see how it went, but I have decided to leave it out this year. The bridge is an old antique and 100-200 bikes crossing it in one go is a no no for the bridge people. The rest of the route is fairly straight forward with the only hazzard being 8 sets of traffic lights! There is nothing that can be done about that as this route passes the least sets of lights believe it or not into Bristol.

POLICE ESCORTS
Police escorts will possibly cost money and in the words of a Ducati owner and Police Inspector "probably ruin it". I did enquire about this last and it was pointed out to me that someone higher up the ladder would make all sorts of demands and restraints on the ride in. There could be possible cost implications to and this could not be met by anyone as we (The Organisers) are determined to keep this festival free for all, the fact that in this day and age streets will be closed, marshalls supplied, a ride in for the bikes, a Ducati trailer supplied for the day and no entrance fee for exhibiting cars and bikes and the visiting public being asked, is all AMAZING! Also we (The Oganisers) are not a club and so we do not have funds of any sort.

VOLOUNTEER MARSHALLS
I am looking for volounteers to marshall the ride in, I require 5 or 6 people who are able to meet either the night before or earlier, and supply their own high vizi vests. The riding marshalls job will be to give anyone caught at traffic lights and junctions directions to catch the rest of the group back up should they get separated (which is going to happen at some point). You will ride with the group and all be allocated lights and junctions to stop at to mop up.

Riders Ducati dealership look set to lend us the trailer we had last year and the chap who brought the race bike that we displayed may be bringing more! The other thing which could be needed is a supply of accommodation for travellers from a far. I have a spare room and could put up 1 or more people.

I would appreciate it if people could fill in the attached poll, so that we know how much bike parking space we will need at the festival.

I hope like me you are all looking forward to it.

Hi,
I was sat in a cafe as he rode by (slowly) through the crowd and was surprised how quite it was.
The cafe had an open front, so that didn't keep the noise down.

Steve

Good to see old friends and make new ones! Huge thanks to Rich and the guys at Riders Bristol for organising the event and the use of the trailer.

Had a boring ride down Friday night, the evening was made a bit more eventful by the closure of the drinks place, but we found each other in the end, and good time was had by all. Thanks to Red Steve and Fiona for organising that, and for putting me up for the night.

Couldn't start my engine, as the bike was parked on the slightly sloping pavement, so it was in gear. Others made quite enough noise for me, anyway, so I don't think anybody missed a stock 695.

Had a really nice ride back to London with Cicero and his gf Tecla, along the A and B roads, some with fabulous views. The poor girl's not too impressed with the pillion comfort of the 1098S...

Looking forward to April 2009!

MrsH here.
Thank you for a great day today.
It was great to meet so many Ducatisti - Paivi and Sweatpea for the first time (I found the girls in Gordano) - and others old and new - including the three Welshmen, one with the rather noisy 999 (who introduced himself earlier)!

We had a good ride up from Taunton in the morning - even if AndyRH, at the front, made sure that the rest of the boys kept their speed down because of the 'beginner' in their midst. It was much windier on the way back down the motorway later.

Thanks Tortuga for organising it. Make sure I take a map next time. I just - er - kinda assumed I would be in a pack and wouldn't need to know where I was going. It was a bit of a shock to be at the front of a group (when others went ahead) and not knowing where I was or which turning to take.

Lovely weather, great company. I was a bit nervous as a newbie on a bike (and was far from perfect with my gear changes and clutch control), but I'll get better bit by bit.

See you all soon I hope. Cheers. MrsH

Great to meet you, Donna, glad you could both make it.

Good to meet Northworthy, too, who came all the way from Switzerland, good effort there, young man!

Good on you Mrs H - welcome to Ducatisti!! We're not a bad lot overall - time you got your own avatar tho!
Sorry didn't get to meet you today - last I saw of David was about 10.30 disappearing from the Red Cafe with a handful of Paninis - which he claimed were for you - personally I have my doubts!!

As Paivi said - it was great to meet some new Ducatisti - K, Sweat Pea, Moto748, The K1DD to name a few....and also great to catch up with old friends - RodH, Dave Hicks, Paivi

We had a great day out, and a nice trip there and back. Big big thanks must go to Tortuga for his efforts in organising the event......

Didn't see Clarkson strung up from a lamp post - so I assume he chickened out of coming when he heard how many bikes were going to be there!!!!!!

Unhappy

Well, what a great day out! Well done Tortuga....the preassure's on for 2009 then!

A very real pleasure to meet up again with some old friends.....Kev(hhhJ, hope the helmet's OK), Steve(MrR) always a pleasure, MultiMental (still mad as a box of frogs..thank god!), Steve (who almost got a kiss for saying how much weight I'd lost, but then spoilt it by saying "'cause you used to be a fat *******!") and the lovely Paivi.

Also a great pleasure to meet so many new ones and be able to put faces to forum names, Merv' we must talk more on malts, lovely to meet Sweetpea and so many more. I'm afraid that age, lateness of the hour and quality of the malt in my glass mean that memory will only return when, once again, it is triggerd by your forum names! AK and CK, thanks for being such good company and I just knew that I would enjoy meeting Richard (Noteworthy)....

What a great day out

Hi,

Well it was well worth staying behind and watching the football...not.

Good to meet up with people, thanks to the organisers for a great event.

I ended up taking the scenic route (A272) home, over 400 miles once I got home so I'll be mostly sitting on a rubber ring!

Hey - respect to you. No many n00bs would do a mass ride-in! My clutch control was far from perfect too (but that's because my clutch is sha'gged) ) and I never know where I am going either (and that's because I am lazy and have no sense of direction!)

Sorry I didn't get to meet you & glad you enjoyed the day.

Great day out ,fantastic sounds and sights.Nice to put some more faces to names as well. Thanks to all those who organised the meet and marshalled the ride in, to call it a success would be an understatement. Finally thanks to the London crowd for the company on the ride home, look forwards to seeing you all soon at Boxhill next month.

I'll echo the thanks to Tortuga and the other organisers. Sunshine for three years in a row is pretty impressive too! Sounds like there was a fantastic turnout of Ducatisti posters; I must have walked right past loads of you! Good to meet the ones I did, though.

Was the Zonda there, then? I didn't see it this year: last year it was up on the right on the main road (Corn Street).

Highlights for me were the guy who'd restored the red Fiat 500 and made a trailer out of another one!

I remember your bike, Hobbsy!
