I know there are a few posts on the board for this already, however without offending this will be the official and only one that will matter from now on. Could I ask that everyone uses this one from now on please and I will post any developments and info as I get it on this thread.

I will try and address everything with the following list.

THE EVENT IS FREE TO ENTER FOR EXHIBITING ENTRANTS AND THE VISITING PUBLIC. THE EVENT IS BASICALLY A MEET WITH A 9 MILE RIDE INTO BRISTOL WITH BETWEEN 100-150 OTHER ITALIAN BIKES, PARK UP ITALIAN STYLE IN CLOSED OFF STREETS WITH EVERY ITALIAN CAR MARQUE YOU CAN THINK OF AS WELL, AND THEN BE ENCOROUGED TO START UP AND MAKE AS MUCH NOISE AS POSSIBLE.

THE MEETING PLACE
The meeting place will be junction 19 of the M5 motorway in the car park of the motorway services at Easton In Gordanno. We will meet in the far corner near the raised grass bank. (This is out of the way of where the cars tend to park and as the bank is raised, will provide a good vantage point to photograph the masses of bikes. It will also keep us out of the way of the main building and any complaints from the services manager).

THE DEPARTURE TIME
We will meet at 09oohrs with a departure time of 0930hrs. (This will give us 30 minutes to travel the 9 miles or so into Bristol and enter the festival for 1000hrs as requested by the organisers.)

THE ROUTE
The route will be out of the main entrance of the services and turning left onto the A369 towards Bristol, We will then make an immediate right turn into High Street (Portbury Village), once in the village we will follow the road around to the left and onto Mill Lane. The route will now rise up through a series of bends and carry on through woods and forests. At the end of this road we will meet the B3128 and turn left following the signs for Failand and Bristol. We will follow this road and go straight across at the traffic light controlled cross roads and carry on following the B3128 as it twists and turns and drops down through more forests until it meets the A370. Once on the A370 we will then follow the signs for Bristol City Centre over the cumberland basin bridge and then follow the A4 towards the centre. We will enter the centre and keep right turning back on our selves before following the road left and into Baldwin Street. The entrance that we must take into the festival is on the left with a dropped kerb at the Edwards Public House. Duncan and Co will endevour to park you up promptly. (I have left out the Clifton Suspension Bridge due to the fact that we have the start stop issue when approaching the bridge and once we have crossed it, to allow people to catch up. It was a bit of fun last year and a bit of an experiment to see how it went, but I have decided to leave it out this year. The bridge is an old antique and 100-200 bikes crossing it in one go is a no no for the bridge people. The rest of the route is fairly straight forward with the only hazzard being 8 sets of traffic lights! There is nothing that can be done about that as this route passes the least sets of lights believe it or not into Bristol.

POLICE ESCORTS
Police escorts will possibly cost money and in the words of a Ducati owner and Police Inspector "probably ruin it". I did enquire about this last and it was pointed out to me that someone higher up the ladder would make all sorts of demands and restraints on the ride in. There could be possible cost implications to and this could not be met by anyone as we (The Organisers) are determined to keep this festival free for all, the fact that in this day and age streets will be closed, marshalls supplied, a ride in for the bikes, a Ducati trailer supplied for the day and no entrance fee for exhibiting cars and bikes and the visiting public being asked, is all AMAZING! Also we (The Oganisers) are not a club and so we do not have funds of any sort.

VOLOUNTEER MARSHALLS
I am looking for volounteers to marshall the ride in, I require 5 or 6 people who are able to meet either the night before or earlier, and supply their own high vizi vests. The riding marshalls job will be to give anyone caught at traffic lights and junctions directions to catch the rest of the group back up should they get separated (which is going to happen at some point). You will ride with the group and all be allocated lights and junctions to stop at to mop up.

Riders Ducati dealership look set to lend us the trailer we had last year and the chap who brought the race bike that we displayed may be bringing more! The other thing which could be needed is a supply of accommodation for travellers from a far. I have a spare room and could put up 1 or more people.

I would appreciate it if people could fill in the attached poll, so that we know how much bike parking space we will need at the festival.

I hope like me you are all looking forward to it.
View Poll Results: Who is joining the ride in and who is going to go straight there?
Meeting the ride in 76 95.00%
Going straight there 4 5.00%

Hi,
Thanks to Tortuga and all of his team, I had a great day out not managing to walk more than 20 paces without bumping into someone I know or I'd met before.
I bumped into Steve TOB with his family at almost exactly the same spot that I'd met them last year, if this's a 'Groundhog Day' type of thing I'll try to keep getting it wrong, as it's always a pleasure.
Met lots of new folks as well which was very nice.
The funniest thing for me was explaining to friends who were on their 1st visit about the start your engines thing, saying I don't do it Blah Blah etc.
One friend said I'm going to rev my Darmah, at which point the Guzzi club fired up the pre war Dandolino racer, Kev then gave up any idea of running his bike as there'd be no point as no one would hear it.
It was even louder than the chaps 999? which he proceded to bounce off the rev limiter only a small distance away...
Remind me not to buy that one when he's finished with it!

Steve

Loudest bike I saw was that Fila rep 749 with the 916-style cans. That was stupidly loud!

Was it anybody here?

Tortuga, that guy making pictures of bikes riding on to the market area. Was he one of your lads? He made a picture of you, then AK's green monster thing and then me. I would like that picture.
He made plenty more pictures later on.

Like you Kev I had a great time.
When I was parking my bike up, I looked up and saw a heavily Tattoo'd young guy with a pretty young chick, I thought that must be HHH, but my minds eye had expected a bigger chap...
Anyway I sorted out my kit and turned around and that chap had gone.
If it was you I was going to ask where your forum handle came from??
Also where do you live as although I now live in sunny Cornwall, I'm originally from the East End of London.

Steve

Heavily tattooed young guy sounds like Kev, but not if he was with a 'pretty' young chick, as Sharon's not pretty. She's drop dead gorgeous! I caught a glimpse of them at Gordano but couldn't see them at Bristol. Next time we have to do the noon meeting thing...

Well folks

I had a fantstic day and I hope you all did too. Near enough 160 bikes for the ride in, CK counted 15? as we started up, but then as we moved off I caught sight of some late comer's joining at the back. The traffic lights started to split the snake up on the way into Bristol which had its advantages, yes 160 bikes entering the centre would be a cool sight, but parking them up quickly would of been a nightmare. The marshalls at the festival did a grand job in getting you all in and so many thanks to Duncan, Corr, Sadbiker, Claire, JR and Steve. Thanks also to Old Buzzard and Stafford for the ride in marshall duties, good job done considering we only had 2 of the 5 marshalls that were planned

Ladies and Gentleman start your engines was its usual mechanically musical event, my ears were positively ringing after the first one, I had some nice flames popping out of the back of my 999S, AK forced the open windows of the bar behind to be closed as he bounced his increadibly loud Monster special off the rev limiter

The Top Gear Team did not turn up which was a shame, by all accounts there was a problem with the hamster and so they cancelled. I thought all was lost but early in the afternoon a Guy approached the trailer and said "sorry I am a bit late but can I bring my Desmosedeci RR in" "Errrr yes Paivi and I said" and off I went to get him in. I managed to get him right up to the front of the trailer where he carefully parked it up on its side stand. It didn't take long for a crowd to gather to see a £40000 Ducati RR, I think even people who knew naff all about bikes, stopped and had a stare

I have to thank Riders Of Bristol and Martin Rich the Manager for the use of the trailer and bikes, the public made sure all of the posters were snapped up and the Monster on display was supplied by Ducati UK. It was the genuine show bike doing the rounds around europe, as we speak it is on its way back to Italy

Noteworthy is worthy of a mention as he was our longest travelling bike, Switzerland to Bristol, respect respect respect. He is ill Famosi Uno 2008

So who's up for Bristol 2009.
I have plans for next year, I will need a bit of a hand though getting it together and will post in the not distant future of what it is and how we can achieve it

But thanks to all of you for making an effort and coming to Bristol, it is a strange thing organising events and something that I have found myself doing by accident. I have found my self worrying about the weather, the turn out before, the turn out on the day, and the day after worrying about what you guys were going to say about it all. I said to RodH and the other half, I am so busy trying to make sure everyone is having a good time, the day passes me by. I got home shatterred and spent Sunday planting strawberries to chill out. Sharon my other half took a video on the Clarken Coombe road, she was the lovely lady with the camcorder filming as we all passed coming down the hill. When I have worked out how to load it onto a computer and then load it on here I will It does sound and look the business as we all pass, it was crank up the TV sound yesterday and watch it a dozen times. I might end up inviting Rod around for a drink and pushing him into the study to sort it out on the computer.

So next event will be a Ducatisti BBQ at mine, I will post it up soon when the weather improves
