Ok ... Mrs H and I are kid-free on Bank Holiday Monday and after today at the Bristol Italian Auto festival she is well keen to get some more miles under her wheels.

Us "south westers" had a chat today at the bike festival and thought it would be a great idea to have a nice ride down to Kingsbridge - Plymouth (stopping at the New GT Store for a Brew!) and then over the moors. Anyone interested in joining us the Taunton contingent will be leaving from Hein Gericke at 09:00am and we will be meeting up with everyone else at the Subaru garage at Ashburton at 10:30am (weather permitting)!!

Ashburton Subaru
Peartree Cross
Ashburton
Nr Newton Abbot
South Devon
TQ13 7RB

So far (as far as I know) we have

Dave & Donna (996SPS & 620 Monster)

Jimmy & Naomi (996s & 800 Monster)

Dean (749) Ollie Yates (1098s) Dan (blinged 748) Kes (999Bip) John (888SPS) Mike (999R) Andy (749S) & Duds [another Dave] (999R)

Any one else more than welcome, we will be riding some great roads!

As for a route to Ashburton, how about;

A38 + A361 Taunton to Tiverton

Tiverton to Crediton, not too sure on the road

Crediton to Asburton on the A377 + A38

Whatsayou?

A3072 Tivy to Crediton - Sounds good to me Andy

Here's the route on Google Maps - approx 1hr 30 or 45.

So ... Jimmy and everyone ... can you get yourselves to Ashburton for 10:30?- that'll give us maximum time before Andy has to be back mid afternoon

I am fine with that 10:30 it is the weather forecast is different depending on where you look although none suggest heavy rain!
one even has a big sun on it

Should we have three groups?

Looks like we are going to be in double figures - could be as many as 12 of us.

Makes me wonder whether we should split into three groups of three or four riders. What do you all think?

If we could get someone who knows the route to lead each group, and have a few stops where we all meet-up then I reckon we'd all worry less about being left behind/leaving others behind. It'll be safer, more fun and we'll be less likely to attract any unwanted attention.

Anyone want to nominate themsleves for one of the three groups? - slow, slower and slowest

I'm happy to go in slowest with Mrs H or one of the other groups depending on others preferences.

Also, does anyone who knows the route want to volunteer to lead a group? Dan? Jimmy? Anyone else?

Hang on, I bought a Ducati for the attention

I am sure we can sort something out tomorrow TBH though we don't tend to get into many Imperial entanglements round these parts, just the odd Camera, Sheep. & Ponies to watch for really and oh and bank holiday drivers!

Suits me. I'm mainly thinking about the difficulties of a group that size and of such different levels of experience staying in touch with each other with traffic lights, junctions and bank holiday drivers splitting us up - it isn't great if people are under pressure to keep up because they don't know their way.

Hi all,

I am out and about tomorrow. Met up with a friend Saturday night in Plymouth (SV650 rider), who's brother in law came down from Oxford Friday. He only past his test 3 weeks ago, so they've asked me to join them for a ride across the moors too at some point tomorrow, so he can get a few miles under his belt. As it's so many of you meeting up i'd love to meet up with you at Ashburton. If you don't mind, and so i can try and kill 2 birds with one stone i'll try to arrange to meet up with you all first then maybe split off just after lunch, or when we arrive in or around the Plymouth area to meet them.

Dean
