Ok ... Mrs H and I are kid-free on Bank Holiday Monday and after today at the Bristol Italian Auto festival she is well keen to get some more miles under her wheels.

Us "south westers" had a chat today at the bike festival and thought it would be a great idea to have a nice ride down to Kingsbridge - Plymouth (stopping at the New GT Store for a Brew!) and then over the moors. Anyone interested in joining us the Taunton contingent will be leaving from Hein Gericke at 09:00am and we will be meeting up with everyone else at the Subaru garage at Ashburton at 10:30am (weather permitting)!!

Ashburton Subaru
Peartree Cross
Ashburton
Nr Newton Abbot
South Devon
TQ13 7RB

So far (as far as I know) we have

Dave & Donna (996SPS & 620 Monster)

Jimmy & Naomi (996s & 800 Monster)

Dean (749) Ollie Yates (1098s) Dan (blinged 748) Kes (999Bip) John (888SPS) Mike (999R) Andy (749S) & Duds [another Dave] (999R)

Any one else more than welcome, we will be riding some great roads!

P.s, I'm not the quickest of riders, but i do know the roads enough to keep us en route together, so if anyone wants me to lead a group if we do split into groups i don't mind.

Yeah - perhaps a bit too far on this occasion. We'll have to head east next time. I wonder what the mid point is between Berkshire and Somerset...
Hope you have a good bank holiday anyway Suze! Cheers. D

Changed my front brake fluid this afternoon so now that I can stop when requested I'll see you all tomorrow. (I'll be at yours Jimmy for 9:45am)

As for groups David, I wouldn't worry too much about losing the way we all just need to know where to stop. We can sort things out tomorrow morning.

Well I had a great time..... shame it poured down on the way home from Exeter though!
Good to meet everybody as usual, ten in attendance and The Rock was a good idea for lunch John (and nice little short cut ).

Probably would have felt more comfortable on a trailie today but the views were superb as always. Loads of bank holiday traffic, but I still love Dartmoor and the South Hams......

I'm knackered now! Did anybody get any pictures?

Hi all,

Just wanted to say a big thank you to all for today. Really enjoyed meeting up with you all. Nice to have some more names to faces at last.

Shame the rain eventually arrived just as we got to the best part, but i'm sure they'll be more times.

Well done to Mrs H (Donna) for doing very well with all twisties she had to go around today. Also well done to Naomi who gave the A ok sign to the very well cut hedgerow, just outside of Mortonhampsted, as we were going down hill and around a slight bend. I have to agree though it was very impressive.

Dan, i'm glad seeing Thomas made your day more enjoyable too.

Hope you got home all safe and well.

Hope to see you soon.

Dean

A grand day out, it's always good to follow someone who knows what they're doing, not sure about the dirt tracking though, missed the rain by nipping up to my local. Looking forward to the next one ( and my mate's saving for a Ducati ).

Was that the multi-coloured hedge? I think that was one of the few things I did spot - my eyes were mostly only on the road ahead (and occasionally behind).

Thanks everyone for your company today - felt really good to be out with the clan - even if I was a bit of a laggard at times

I was also glad to be out of the rain, and the final leg up the A38 towards Wellington gave me my confidence back. Er, today was my first ride in the rain....

I think I've had enough of windy roads for the moment though. I look forward to a relaxing evening now - don't think I'll be capable of much more.

Jimmy996 - had you told me that there'd be a CLIFF by the side of the road on that last leg to the A road then I might have found another route... I don't mind snakes, spiders and even the odd cockroach, but cliffs by the side of the road have filled me with terror since I was a child... Oh, yeah, I loved that bit of the road... not. I think I might need to be in charge of the map reading next time

Cheers all - have a great evening.

Finally AndyRH - so, so sorry you could not join us - wish you'd left when your bike started working again - you would easily have caught up to us before the meet up... Next time - at least you have the Northwest200 to look forward to - only a week away, as you said this morning.

Sounds like a good plan Mrs H and sorry about the precipice, those of us in South Devon we'll have to head up to see you in Somerset next time, we can meet at Andyrh's just in case we need to push his bike and make sure he comes out to play!

I'm sure Andyrh will appreciate that! We should be sure to include the seven esses a few times while we're in these parts.

I'm glad that you know which precipice I mean. I'm sure it was filled with beautiful bluebells too - but, ya know, they just weren't my priority today!

Again, thanks for waiting for me Dan!

Cheers. Donna

PS Do you think we need a 'riders who also dive' sub thread?!?

I have now - but you can't see the icecream!
Yes - love to do again - just have to work out where to put the children - or do it on a weekday, take the day off when they're at school again... Not that easy with little 'uns... Either that or I leave Dave at home
