great race and glad that stoner didn't "tag" the back of rossi, that would have been a saaad end. Casey looked like he was riding on/over the limit - and a shame he didn't realise that he just took part in one of the great races in history - he should have enjoyed it and embraced rossi for the fight. Is there a post race studio interview?

Whatever else, both Rossi and Stoner were the 'class' of the field. As has been already said, for Stoner to be able to fall off. remount and still come 2nd shows just how much better they were than the rest. Wouldn't it be good to see the pair of them swap bikes and see who won then? My money would be on Vale.

I think your mistaken on that one, as far as I could make out Rossi patted him on the back and said 'Thats racing', Stoner behaved like a sullen child.
It was a close and fair race,Stoner made a mistake thats all,at least he tried not to take Rossi out, thats to his credit.

If you look through the race replay I thought Rossi was a lot smoother everywhere, Stoner was trying very hard to match him and his bike looked out of shape quite a lot.

Its not so easy when you cant just power past on a straight!

Lol!!!

Have only just come back into my office after an early morning out - am now watching all the info and interviews after yesterdays AMAZING race and obviosuly reading various comments etc.

The only gut wrenching aspect of yesterday was that all the build-up towards Rossi duffing up Stoner on the last lap of the race melted away when CS binned it all on his own - a bit of a let down IMHO.

Racing is tough - life's a bitch - deal with it - MotoGP is about as hard as any type of planet earth racing gets - VR was awesome and CS, up until the point I watched the interviews this afternoon, did a great job of keeping up with VR - blaming VR (not quite sure for what exactly) is just a totally rubbish attitude.

Go Valentino - show them who IS the boss of hand to hand combat!

It's a little sad that Stoner doesn't seem to like racing, only winning.

If he's not careful (and I hope he isn't because he has all the magnetism of a petulant child) Stoner will fall into the Rossi mind game trap which as we have seen leads to talented riders believing in their hearts that ultimately Rossi is the better rider...

which of course he is

From what I can make out it was when Val nearly binned it through the cork screw and would have looked from stoner's view like he was trying to take him out because he would have not seen what had happened.

It seems to me like stoner was ****ed off because of his own mistake that guaranteed he was going to miss out on the win.

Val is a super human though and no one can really argue that.

But if Stoner wants to repair his image he needs to inspire people, not garner enemies.

I don't detect the love of anything but Winning and Casey Stoner in what I've seen from Stoner so far, doesn't inspire me at all even though he's on a Duke!

Rossi about Elias, Turkey 2007 "I'm also quite unhappy with Elias today because I think he was quite dangerous - more than once he passed me on the inside and then altered his line. This is not a correct way to race. We're all quite sad tonight but we have many more races so we will look forward now to China."

I am really glad that it is only Stoner that knows how to complain!

LOL, so now you are compairing Elias to Rossi, yer I can see that erm

Rossi and others (Stoner included) race hard, Elias is just plain scary AND he's taken Rossi out on a previous occasion so slightly different circumstances.

Try looking up the number of races Rossi has complimented his rival on beating him and talked about 'a great battle', then do the same with Stoner.

I think Stoner's record of putting the Duc at the front when no one else can put it in the top half of the field is superb. I'll cut him a little whingey slack for that if nothing else.

Honestly I'm not on a Stoner bash,...but I can't stop myself now...

Did anyone see the post on Ducati.com where Sete was within a couple of tenths of Stoners record after a VERY short amount of time on the 800?

A come back from the Golden Mullet?

Two prima donna’s on one Ducati ticket?

Surely too much to hope for!

Not sure if anybody has posted this link yet: BBC iPlayer - MotoGP: 2008: Round 11 - Laguna Seca

I've just watched it again, and it's just as good second time around!

I thought the race between those two was brilliant, I just wished it had gone through to the end full on. I just dont think that perceived personalities or lack there of, either extrovert or introvert should take away from what was a great race, comments and attitudes directly after a race should be taken with a grain of salt. Either side is capable of these sort of comments depending on the outcome and the perceived wrong doing at the time.

Crikey, talk about a bunch of one eyed stoner haters!

Did you not see Rossi on THE DIRT inside the right hand apex of the corkscrew and then just ran straight back onto the track nearly colliding with Casey who was on the racing line? The only reason they didn't hit was because Casey picked it up, not through anything that Rossi did and I think Casey has a right to feel aggrieved about that.

When Casey got dropped after running wide it into turn 1 it took him less than two laps to make the 0.5s deficit back up and be all over the back of Vale. Casey had the better pace yesterday, Rossi used his agressiveness and strength of will to win. It's a shame Casey made his mistake because I wanted to see a good battle at the end. Rossi's yamaha was better on the brakes and had better initial punch off the corner but the Ducati had better mid and top end so a good mix.

Rossi rode a great race and showed his mental strength, I'm looking forward to the rest of the championship now!
