Has to be one of the best races I have seen in a long time .

CS does have a tendency to moan but he was also guilty of pushing VR on to the kerb on lap 24:

YouTube - Rossi vs Stoner Laguna Seca 2008 lap 24

funny how he didnt mention that in his little rant .

I'm a huge fan of both riders but it looked like VR was better on the day. CS looked to be pushing so hard all race his traction control was working overtime.

Well done to Vale but also props to Stoner for providing some really entertaining racing

I thought it was a rubbish advert for MotoGP, I'd much rather watch the super exciting F1 guys risking their mobility with high sides et all.

So how can any potential sponsor with a few million to pay out consider that their money is better spent on the car boys?

Perhaps the best piece of sporting television in a decade? Well alongside the Liverpool Euro Championship comeback from 0-3.

Dude, they all use the kerb all the time - it's part of the track. That's actually a plus point for Casey because he allowed him room.

I have to feel a little sympathy for Casey here. When he wins it's because the bike is fantastic, when he loses he should have done better on that amazing rocketship machine. He does seem to crave a little popularity - is that the same thing as wondering why he is not all that popular ? If he keeps finishing second to VR then everyone will love him...

I guess the only thing he can do is leave Ducati for Kawasaki(or someone slower...) to show 'It's not about the bike'. Can anyone see that happening ever ? I would like to see him on something else, just to see how he goes on it. I think he'd be a great fit on the Suzuki.

Personally, I think he will most definitely win the championship this season. I cannot see what either VR or Littletinydani can do about it. Certainly if it comes down to Valencia, I cannot see VR winning it there, he has had very poor results there in the past.

Look for the results from '06 on the Honda LCR.

1x2nd
3x4th
2x5th
1x8th
3x10th
7xDNF

Season started off OK, peaked with the 2nd and the secons half was a total disaster, spent most of it on his arse. Much like the rest of his racing history really.

Thumbs up Cheste

Me thinks this round of GP will be a Parade lap at Cheste as it will be decided long before that, if it goes to the wire for Cheste then it will be the potentially best race to come on MGP2008. If it isnt its do or die time, everybody loves a winner but equally if there is two options on the table then you know its going to be a good one.
Doubt it will happen though but what we have seen is Pedrosa Vale and Stoner all have great bikes but the thing that makes this is when the rider shows his skill as well, its not all about the faster bike that wins as we have seen last week.
One bin out can soon alter that table as we have seen already (10 points between DP and CS) and DP has had a day off.

Well done JT as ever proving pretty much every race in 7-9 now thats not bad for a first season at all.

Mick

As it was his first season on the big bikes, I think we can pretty much discount 2006 ? I'd like to see him on either a Honda or Yamaha 800 to see if he can make the thing work for him. The 990s were totally different beasts anyhow.

You have to understand the way the paddock hierarchy works....

Casey was not given a bike prepared to his requirements at Honda LCR . To a large degree he got what he was given. When he signed for Ducati one of the first things he said during pre-season testing, was that it was the first time in his career that he'd had his bikes prepared exactly as he wanted, with no compromises.

Suspension, frame geometery engine/electronic mapping etc; and most importantly the first time he had access to 'A' tyres, which are not available to "support" teams, from either Michelin or Bridgestone.

To put just the tyre thing into perspective, you saw the difference the wrong compounds made to all the Michelin runners at Laguna Seca. Casey wouldn't have had the top choices of the wrong compounds at LCR Honda

It's like comparing a road going sports bike with a World Superbike they've both got two wheels but that where the similarity ends.

All Stoner did on the Honda was fall off.....suddenly on the duke he's bloody world champion.
Thats an awful lot to do with the bike.

When he wins everything is great, when he doesnt there is always something wrong.
I just dont like the the dude, talented though he may be.

Stick him on one of the 500 strokers and it would be "Casey who????"

The first part of this race was the best i've seen in ages.
You just hit the nail right on the head my friend with that statement. Rossi is the bossi and the young guy reminds me of a tennis player we have in Scotland, who seriously needs to grow up if he wants to get the fans... and the media behind him. That was one bullet in Mr Stoners foot with that negative gesture.

in my personal opinion there wont be another rider to get anywhere near rossi. they all seem like a new breed who are quick to blame the bikes they have or their tyres. they have no sportsmanship and are becoming divas!
rossi is in a different league, he can ride anything (which he's proved) and he's always there to congratulate other riders. i think the main reason stoner has been winning is due to the bike! he likes to win by 20 seconds and not have a good watchable race!
grow up! and get that mole chewed off!

What a load of BS! He set pole in his 3rd ever race in the premier class and came second only to a great pass by Melandri on the final corner of the race! That was Turkey if you remember.

He never finished lower than 8th in his first year with 3 x 4th places, 2 x 5th places, 3 x 6th places, and an 8th. He certainly crashed a lot but did you notice that the majority of his crashes were on the front? And Bridgestone is known for having a front that gives better feel and now he is getting the pick of them ... he showed HUGE potential early on!!

You're only seeing what you want to see because of the following:
