Retro/Casual/Leather Jacket?
Hi all
I'm after a new leather jacket - something to wear with jeans for short trips into town, down the pub etc. on the Monster or the Superduke so first and foremost it needs to be longer than the usual short, waist-length jacket.
I'd like something black, slightly casual and retro with some proper (but inconspicuous) armour and subtle branding.
Any suggestions?

How much do you want to pay ?
I got a Furygan for my birthday the other year, fits the bill perfectly but 400 earth pounds.
Look on their site for the retro stuff

Happy to pay £400+ for the right jacket. A fair chunk of that will be coming from a 3rd party's insurance company
Furygan website is 'under construction' but I found this ... is yours one of these DB?

I've got to agree with you. Furygan are cool. I've got an Oyster from a couple of years ago and it has weathered well and looks great. Retro style and fantastic quality. Very much a jeans and jacket type of thing. I've also go a Texas which I don't wear on the bike - it's a bit too Harlyeyesque but is great for down the pub. And I've got the Brutale jacket and trousers for everyday riding.

The Furygan look good quality, although IMHO they look a bit like a NEXT jumper with the manufactures name emblazened across the front
Discreet badging looks better!

I spent much of last Saturday scouring the bike shops of Taunton and Exeter, all to no avail ... so today after the Bristol Italian Auto Festival I dragged Mrs H, Andyrh, Mr R and CRW803 along to Fowlers - where I found just the job. Nice and soft, lightweight leather, but with CE protection. £270
Spidi JK Jacket- CE certified Multitech low profile shoulder and elbow guards
- Adjustable waist straps on the hips
- "Clip stop" to jeans/trouser belt loop keeps the fit snug at high speeds
- Constructed from 1.1mm ultra supple premium sheep leather
- Internal pocket for an optional back protector
- Zip out inner lining
- Inner zippered pocket
- Inner sunglasses pocket
- Corduroy lined high back collar
- Three zippered exterior pockets

They look quite nice, modern styling etc.
Not to my taste though, showing my age here, I far prefer the double breasted style and they seem few and far between now. I keep looking and trying, I'll probably have to get one made to measure. I have a slight problem with Orang-Utan arms, I can get jackets to fit provided I keep my arms in but as soon as I reach for anything my wrist and half myforearm comes out to say hello. looks seriously daft on a bike with a pair of gloves.

Blo*dly hell Dave if Mrs R reads this she'll want to drag me around the shops!
Lets be fair here, myself and Mrs H spent some time having a pleasent chat, whilst the real shop'a'holics trolled around the clothing department...
The jacket looks nice though, although even I would have had trouble getting Mrs R to carry it home for me!
Thanks for showing me around, the flooding problem was getting worse so I headed for the M5 at the 1st chance, it was sooo bad I worked out the fuel consumption at around 28mpg, the bike usually does in the mid 40's to the gallon.
I think I've sorted it now though.
Steve
P.S. I dont think you needed to get Andy to keep the pace down as Mrs H rode very well...
Plus if you factor in the fact that any red blooded male doesn't like to pass a girl with a cute a*se...
Mrs H was never going to be overtaken.
P.P.S. Please don't tell her I said that, I was trying to appear a total gentleman!

Well caught this post quite by chance (looking for jacket picture for another post) - but I'm flattered by your compliment! I do need to practise on the twisty roads though... The straight bits are a doddle...
I'm sorry to the 12 who rode up from Taunton since, having seen Dave talk to everyone at the beginning I wondered if he was telling everyone to keep their speed down for the girly... I didn't know Andy was at the front until we got to Bristol. Had I known of course, I would have overtaken him!!
Nice to meet you Mr R. I'm sorry you had a bike problem - saw you head off to the M5 - but knew you had a long journey home. It was much windier on the way back down the M5 (joined around Weston somewhere) - not such fun as on the way up.
Cheers.

Masher if you get stuck for a jacket, I have a 'double breasted' style (I think the technical description is Lancer) that I want about £30 for. It's got a blue quilted lining is in very good nick but has lost some of the colour (Black) and it does seem to have the required 'gibbon' arms.
