Bartering For Goods

Im looking at getting some new 1 piece leathers looking at mainly dainese, but just wanted folks thoughts to wether they just accept prices shown or bartered and got it at the price you were cheeky enough to ask for.

Is it best to go towards the end of the month when they are looking at hitting targets or doesnt it matter

Thanks in advance

Its always worth asking for a discount, would work better if you buy more than one item. Try : I really like these but they are a bit above my budget. I have seen a suitable pair in xxxxxxxx and they are £ ? could you match the price ?.
Be prepared to walk away though. I have got discounts on electrical goods in the past this way.

Your more likely to get a discount if you pay cash but why limit yourself to Dainese as this limits your options? There are plenty of great manufacturers/brands out there and from all the news everyone is feeling the pinch.

It's a buyers market and they probably need the sale more than you need to buy so remember you have got a significant advantage.

Get the owner/manager if you can , get them talking about the product, have some fun, then towards the end of the conversation say something along the lines of 'I would like to buy x, but you need a deal, promise future custom, flatter the product, but you need a deal to make this purchase. Don't say "want" the effective word is "need".

You'll probably get sighs, exaggerated facial expressions and body movement in response but its all show, but if the answer is no thank him and go elsewhere.

When someone else says yes, once the discount is offered the principle is made and now you have to get the price as low as you can. If he says its his final offer, try and get a further 5% off for a particular set of leathers for any defect you can see. If not walk away then go back in a fews days time to see if the fella has changed his mind.

If the above is more ar5e ache you can stand I can appreciate that point.

Then again I can't believe I paid full price for my Ducati and didn't even get a full tank of fuel A true tail of my heart ruling my head which is good for the soul....occassionally.

Personally I tried on the suits in the shop, got the right size then spent hours on the internet and hey presto, a suit much cheaper than the shop will do it for. Best way!

Thanks for the replies and taken it all on board. The main reason why i was staying with dainese is because i've already bought the Axial Race Rep boots that i liked from this shop and wanted leathers that went over the boot instead of underneath, had a look online and cant see another brand that offer this..

I might see if Dominic Littlewood is free and take him with me

...its it a pain that on ebay all the decent leathers, and there are some jolly decent leathers on there from time to time, seem to be sold by skinny runts!!

discounts..

When my 748 needed a new chain & sprockets, I orded them & paid a deposit..
When I returned to pick them up , the storeman said 'that will be another £85 please.
I looked him in the eye & said 'you know when a pensioner goes to the pictures ' & with that he said straightaway 'Oh give me £75'....Don't ask, don't get....

Just to let you guys know went along to my local Dainese shop to try a couple of sets on and an hour later ended up getting black laguna seca 1piece suit and a back protector with just over £50 discounted.

Really chuffed with them but i tell you what asking for a discount of any kind is scary..but as they say in ASDA EVERY LITTLE HELPS...........

Oh by the way my size is 58 so no more pies for me siiiiiiiir
