Ok, thanks for that David, please keep us updated with any further developments.
Fingers crossed that something good will come out of it.

Bike: A Ducati...........

Lightbulb Ducati's Paris Dakar Heritage

Thought you might like to view part of Ducati's heritage in a niche market. See my Gallery for a picture of Nellie. A road going version of Cagiva's Elefant used regularly for commuting. Google Paris Dakar or Edi Orioli for an insight into Cagiva's success in this gruelling rally, from 1989 through 1998.

Hey, Mahout....nice bike, but I never saw one so clean! Does the passion for the offroader explain the nickname, perhaps?

Thumbs up Passion!

Hi Steve et al,

Rumbled. Yep, the elefant was my first love. She's clean on the pic straight after a rebuild last year, but likes to get her feet muddy. Surprisingly driveable on A roads and twisties, and capable of decent lean angles. I trust you followed the lnk to the Paris-Dakar hall of fame.
Cagiva has some damn good successes with the elefant in its different forms. The works bikes were wicked.

I've had this one 10 years from new, and use her regulaarly for commute between North Essex and Reading Area. Size and presence scares the hell out of the midle lane GPS watchers. About 115 flat out, she's happy at 80ish.
Thanks for the compliment.

Ciao

Mahout
