Manx GP and NW200 Plans

Sorry for duplicating what I've put on the DSC but there's a wealth of experience here as well to tap ...

So .. I'm thinking about plans for my racing future and challenges I want to take on. One such challenge is racing a 600 and another is racing on the roads.

I've been watching the TT shows that I recorded over the two weeks recently, especially fascinated by Guy Martin's flying lap on the superbike, and I've just been getting more and more interested in going to do it. Of course talking to Elvis isn't doing my motivation any harm either.

I doubt that I'll be in DD next year so my plan will be to get a 600 and go and do a few select rounds of a 600 class somewhere, maybe New Era maybe Bemsee maybe ThundersportGB, the choices are there! And then heading off to do the NW200 and the Manx GP.

I know Skids has been over there and run another rider on his bike, Skids have you got a spreadsheet budget or something that you used to understand your costs etc and maybe any notes that capture your experience? (Does Skids post over here?) Anyone else who has been or wants to go and has some thoughts on it please share them as well.

Also, if anyone wanted to get involved as either a sponsor, pit bitch, gofer or whatever I'll obviously be hoping to keep the costs down as much as I can.

I'm obviously well aware of the dangers of riding on the roads and the good news is it scares me so I won't be going to go nuts. First goal is to come home and second goal is a 100mph lap. No goal supercedes goal number 1!

So, thoughts? Info? Help?

As you may know I crew at BSB level for the Linxcel Seton Racing team in Supersport, running 08 R6's......cant advise anything about the road circuits except that compared to short circuits I've had a lot of friends end their days on them..but thats a risk we all take each time we go out on track...but why not pop along and see me at Mallory this w/e if you can get there, or any of the meetings and I'll introduce you to Phil Seton, the team principal.....and he'll be able to give you some first hand info.......you might also have a word with Mark Hill of MHP, and as for which series.....Bemsee without shadow of a doubt........
At BSB level, we reckon on refreshing the engines every 10 hours of running time...so that will give you an idea of the cost dependant on how many meetings you plan on doing.......but if I can help any further dont hesitate to give me a prod....

The Northwest will be far easier to learn and recall than the TT.

You might think about emailing Ryan Farquhar A really nice chap ready to help and talk to anyone.

Thanks, I understand the risks of the roads but that's part of the attraction - overcoming them. Feel the fear and do it anyway.

I can't make it to Mallory this weekend, I have to go help put my cobbled together engine in my DD bike after the last one broke.

As far as supersport bikes go, I'm not going to buy a fully tuned bike - too much to go wrong. I reckon something in superstock spec or mildly tuned would be the go and just get the suspension setup and learn to ride the thing. The R6 cup boys seemed to go alright!

Well I'm planning on speaking to Maria Costello in more depth about it and certainly post that I'll get in touch with Ryan and pick his brains.
