Bike: 2006 Monster S4Rs

hrmph, just received my papers for Saturday. 105db @ 'three quarters of max revs'. Well, bollocks to 3/4 max revs in neutral. However, the Monster is 105-106 at 4,500, but that was with the probe stuck inside one of the cans - they're measuring some way back at Silverstone.

Even so, I'm taking the bike up in a van, so maybe I'll take the KTM up too for insurance. That's a bit fruity too, but less than the Rs. A little less fun...

Paivi, it's a shame we won't be doing the course on the same day, but there you go! Did you get a new rear tyre?

I won't be using the Hypermotard now as i have just sold it - I'll be on the Monster.

I'm really looking forward to Sunday, but I am a bit nervous.

Paivi, excellent choice. I bet that has transformed the bike. You'll be using a lot of that tyre on Sunday! It will warm up quickly, so don't think about it after the first couple of laps.

I'm looking forward to it. My mate Bungi has lent me a CSS DVD to give me a heads up. From what I've seen so far, the pupil/instructor ratio is low and that makes for good feedback. From previous instructor sessions on trackdays, the instructors will be very clear about what they expect you to do and how each session will proceed. When you think you're pushing it, they'll come past one handed, looking backwards at you and generally make you feel slow. But they will only ride close to you if they think you're safe and riding predictably.

I always try to remember that I'm paying for tuition because I'm aware that there are things I can do better, but at the end of the day, the instructor has only done the job I've paid them to do if they address the issues I can see, they can see, or both.

If anyone wants to go up the day before so that there is less travelling in the morning, I have a reservation for a Family room at the Buckingham Travelodge which I haven't been able to cancel - you are are more than welcome to it. Just PM me.

I am almost ready for the off, my tank bag is packed - just having to learn to pack light. Brought some waterproofs today .

It sure is cold and wet out there........

Oh WHY, OH WHY, did this seem a good idea all those months ago? Oh yes, because the end of April is normally warmer!

Shame Ducbird (Viv) can not make it and it now looks like Paivis friend can not attend as she does not have a parking pass.

Can anyone tell that I am not looking forward to this now? Well I suppose it will be useful to learn about corners in the wet..
