Bike Safe -London

Did a Bike Safe course in London..Ace Cafe last week.
It was very good. Lots of informal classroom stuff about positioning, planning and filtering. 1 hour assessed ride in town (London) followed by a de-brief and love.
Then a two hour assessed rural ride with de-brief. All very good.

The price....wait for it.....£30. Yup, thats it.
Best £30 you'll ever spend.
The cops are great, lots of p*ss taking, all very relaxed. Flexible with speed limits but they do want you to stick to them.
Nice to be told you are doing ok and that there is no real issues with your riding.

(Dont mention that my 848 died at the end of the rural ride....4 hour wait for breakdown)

Keep thinking about doing it myself. My friend is a Police biker, who quite often does the courses, so i might have to tap him up.

Does it do anything to reduce your insurance premium?

I turned up 30mins late to the Ace Bikesafe back in April..... of course they all joked it was because I broke down on the way... oh, and was I sure I should be bringing it out when the roads were wet... and would it make it through the day without breaking down!! (I put a bit about my experience here: Jolley's 848 - Experience to Date! )

Check with your insurers, because a lot will offer a 5 or 10% discount if you have attended bikesafe.

You and me both! I've done BikeSafe at the Ace three times now (different bikes) and have never received the love bit. Well, maybe a little bit, but nothing to write to a forum about.

How brilliant the difference one little word can make, simply by missing it out.

This is a result of coming from a long line of distinguished morons and, being a bit old fashioned I see no reason to break with tradition.
Anyway, my excuse is I am typing with my thumbs and the dribble keeps obscuring the keyboard.
Im off now to lick a window or two........

It was 'lunch' you meant to say, wasn't it, as you're not making any mention of the fact that you get a full Ace salad as part of your entrance fee.

Suze, you may want to think about bringing your own picnic lunch, as there are no healthy options, unless you'll settle for a plain jacket potato which I think is on the menu, but don't quote me on that!

I've done a couple of these bike safe days (West Mids) but never have I given anyone love, words of praise, words of wisdom, but never love.

If you have never done one of these, then my advice, book one as soon as you can (mind you, I am biased)
