Paint

One of the best bits of advice I ever got was this:

"The more paint there is on the road, the bigger the upcoming hazard is likely to be".

Check it out when you next go for a ride - when no white line becomes a dotted white line with long gaps, then longer lines and smaller spaces and eventually a solid white line .......... you know the bend is getting tighter.

Of course it doesn't necessarily mean that every hazard is marked - some bends just come out of the blue don't they, but where there is a lot of paint on the road start thinking about what might be up ahead.

Lastly, watch out for the paint itself - there are little glass beads in it to make it reflective, which is a great aid to spotting it at night but a bitch when your front tyre won't quite grip it in the wet.

Ride safely.
