Herb, my wheel bearings were a b****d to get out, I had to weld a nut in the middle and tap it out. I posted this and I wondered what people did if they couldn't weld, someone answered that they used a larde raw bolt as a drift, brill! just stick it in tighten it up and whack it out.
My bike has a notch in the spacer to help tap the bearing out, waste of time, just damaged the spacer. Also a friend on mine suggested heating the wheel with a heat gun not an open flame(which we all know about) but also putting the bearings in the freezer. Almost dropped into place.

Just spoke to my brother in law who I bought the bike from, told him I had to change the wheel bearings, he said he already had them done twice, so thats 3 sets of bearings in 7900 miles. Although I also spoke to an ex motorcycle cop and he said they were changed on the police bikes every 3000 miles.

Well, bike is currently in pieces and supported on the abba at the back with straps to a rafter at the front.

Head bearings greased, fortunately just dry, no damage that I can detect. Forks away for servicing and I found a slight buckle in the wheel, so that has been taken to Dave East for straightening.

New wheel bearings waiting to go in when the wheel is back, so hopefully the problem should be fixed by at least one of the above actions.

I am doing a track day on Tuesday at Oulton so I am quite anxious at the moment with my bike being in so many pieces. Should have it all back together on Thursday. Cutting it a bit fine.

Good luck Herb, I would say head race and front wheel bearings. Have you hit a big pot hole recent? I did the other week and so tested the bearing etc.
Can you check the rear and the swing arm to engine bearings too?
