Sick 748 any ideas
  Can any one help please.
I have a 748 Bip which is fine one day then the next it will let me down
You can be riding along no problem then all of a sudden you get stuck in traffic you come to pull off and it just bogs down spitting and popping back through the throttle bodys.
When you eventually get going it will not pull under load
ease the throttle back and it will pull slightly better
Had to my local Ducati dealer plugged it in to code reader and no faults found
He said from guess work try crankshaft sensor
Took resistance reading and found to be a liitle high so changed it measured the air gap and is fine but the problem still accures.
Any help or ideas greatly appreciated

Fuel starvation due to blocked or restricted fuel filter perhaps.

My friend had thesame problems, when his battery cables where loose, check them first.
Check also the connector behind the regulator (yellow cables) from the alternator, they can melt.
Also check the intake manifolds on cracks (spray with wd40 when running engine) or check loose clamps there.
greetings Carlos

When was your spark plugs last replaced?
One annoying thing of these 748 bikes is that the spark plug lead does not always seat properly. I have heard of and seen a couple of bikes now with that problem. Bike runs ok and suddenly at temp its starts to act up. When putting the plug on you think it is ok but somehow on some bikes it does not make good contact with the sparkplug. Clean everything out, check that the clip is open and in a position to take the plug pin and seat that thing down hard using your fingers.
Is your injectors bodies seated properly? Have you played with them lately and perhaps did not connect them back properly?
What is the CO reading on that bike?
When last did you balance throttle bodies and TPS reset?
Is your fast idle lever open or closed when this happen?
What does the temp do when this starts to happen? I think that there is two temp sensors on that bike. One for the gauge and one for the ecu. swap them around and see what happens. (could be faulty sensor sending wrong info to ecu.)
That would be my bar counter thumb suck guesses things to check...... best of luck

They should pull exual to eachother, it is not a specific value that you are looking for but relative to eachother.

factory spec is 1.5% (that is to get it past certification)
aftermarket you can set it up between 3% to 6% for better performance.

You took the tanks off both bikes, took the fuel pump assemblies out of them both, swapped them over, replaced the tanks, tested it, then took the tanks back off, removed the pump assemblies again, swapped them back again, and then replaced the tanks ?

Aha !! yes, that makes more sense. I hope you get it sorted quickly Andy, and look forward to finding out what the underlying problem is.
Mark.
