Is it a rotary friction damper? - something along the lines of the '2 extra friction plates' mod?

It is a more engineered and precise solution of the extra plate mod. It consists of a packing disc, machined to mate up with the tapered part of the rear of the drum to provide a flat suface for a specially made sprung disc. The kit also comes with a 1.5mm steel plate to aquire the correct pack height.

It can also be used with Duc's that are fitted with ally plates.

It will be no more than 150 pounds.

Dont want to look at mine, but I do fancy a bling clutch, just can't make up my mind which basket and open cover I prefer.

They're supplied from the factory as you describe.

Indeed, I removed mine when the bike was about 1 year old and there were 'holes' in the plate where it is machined, the dealer told me that they're all like that - 9 years later it's still the same.

Ever since have put the open cover on my clutch, I have had a really loud not particularly pleasing clack clack It doesn't sound anything like the other Ducati dry clutches Ihve had the pleasure to listen to.

It is so bad that strangers come up to me and ask if it is suppose to sound like that

Bikes now done 9000 miles and the clutch is quite grabby, so I'm thinking of getting the basket and plates replaced this winter

So i'd be interested if there is a deal going for the bitz.

fit a mpl titanium insert basket and a alloy/plate set and you will
get a softer sounding clack clack sound if you get my drift.
have this set up on mine and still people say whats wrong with your bike.

I know they are expensive but the 48 tooth stm slipper is the best dry clutch ive ever used. To me well worth the £1300 it cost . No grabbing . or graunching works great on the road or track and dosent wear as much. Just my thought though.

Bike: 97 900 ss desmodue

Mine 900 SS is the same as the one in the photo , probly slightly worse , the noise is the worst bit , all the usual comments , but the thing works just fine . Strangely the paso doesn't do it . I blame the light flywheel and possibly the rubber clutch hub on the SS

I had a 48 tooth STM non-slipper clutch in my 748, and that was a very nice job too. And quite a bit cheaper than £1300, although dearer than the stock set-up.

Unfortunately the bike was SMIDSY'd before I could make a fair comparison on basket longevity, but common-sense suggests they should last longer.
