Brake fluid splashes

For arguments sake, lets say that a "friend" accidentally spilled brake fluid on the plastic air tubes, and that those tubes now have white stains on them where the fluid did their work before it could be rinsed off.

What advice will you give your "friend" on getting those cosmetically damaged parts back to black again without having to spend 700 quid on a new set of air tubes and a new air box? (carbon fiber of course!)

I would give that 'friend' a tin of 'Back to Black' plastic dressing used in car valeting, and if THAT didnt work, then a tin of tyre wall blacking WILL do the job, 100%....then I'd tell that firend to be more careful next time ! Lol....

I have been using Graphite on mine. Its the stuff people use on the fire place surrounds instead of black lead which your granny used to use or great granny in some of your cases. Rub it in with one rag and then polish it with another. I also use it on my MV black swinging arm. Once it is rubbed in it does not come off you dont get mucky from it. If you use it on s/a degreasant washes it off. Water though just runs off it. you get filthy putting it on.
Some of the black had rubbed off the swing arm where the hugger had rubbed. This stuff took it back to black and now you can't see where the rub mark was

Id tell "your friend", to tell his better half that they are ruined, and that this would be the perfect opportunity to acquire those shiny new carbon ones - you know, the ones which have been lurking on the shelf at the local Ducati emporium going buy me buy me buy me, every time "your friend" walked past them

I tried that..... I mean I will tell him to try that trick of convincing the missus.

Have to decide between a new Nemesis ECU for the 999 ,
or do the air runners and belt covers and rear tyre and front mudguard on the 998 in carbon.......

Higgy748, have you got a name for that stuff you are using? Where do I even start to look for it? (remember that I am not in the UK)

I bought mine from an independant B&Q type place but I would guess any of the larger DIY stores will stock it. I doubt if you would get it out there just cant picture the need for an Arab to black his fire surround. Its called Traditional Graphite Black Grate Polish (thats what it says on the tube) and is made by a company called STOVAX Ltd from Exeter.
