Chip Choice

Hello,

I've just sold my PCIII in favour of a chip as I'm lead to believe the chip will adjust ignition timing as well as fuelling but I am stuffed as to which to choose.

Can anybody guide me through the process. Are they simply plug and play, no need to get them adjusted.

I have a 1997 748 Bip with 45mm slip on termi's and thats about the total sum of my mods. Will be purchasing some performance filters in the near future.

Is it a case of once decided which to get, simply plug it in and ride?

Coming from turbo jap car tuning, I'm used to getting a remap everytime you buy a new modification and its a case of driving around for 2-3 hours while Mr Forrest push's the right buttons to get the best from the car, and believe me, he does

Help appreciated.

Thanks.

Surely ignition timing is fixed and unadjustable?

From what I have read, the FIM chips do adjust timing and the ignition maps can be further adjusted via PC on curtain ECU's.

I've just ordered a Ultimap chip from Cornerspeed. Apparently it does pop straight in and once the TPS and throttle bodies are set , should be good to go. They have the advantage of being reprogrammable so as you add more performance bits you can get the chip modded. As I understand it.

I have an Fim chip in my 748 bp and it`s great straight from the box. Coincedentily I am upgrading and got a hold of an 853 sps engine with a power commander so the chip is for sale.
It`s only a few months old and is in perfect condition. If your interested give me a pm.

Out of curiousity Andy, why are you selling the chip. You can upgrade for the new engine I believe, and sell the PC.

Will the chip fit my bike?

If so, how much for it out of interest??
