Oxford Tail Pack Luggage (748/998)

Hi, we`re off too france in a week or so and I`ve been reading about how difficult it is to secure luggage/ tail pack to a 998 or 748.. i realise the ideal way is too buy a ventura system.. but I`ve tried to secure an oxford tail hump.. and it seems very very easy.. slipping the velcro under the biposto seat and securing.. then after padding the crisscross bungees fitting one to each of the rear foot rests and the others just under the unit near the pipes, it seems to work and if we dont put heavy items in them can anyone foresee any problems we may have?? fromn past experiences etc??

be glad of some input..

thanks

Must admit, I go to the south of France quite a bit and only use a tank bag and rucksack....I can get a weeks worth in there easily enough....but there are several tips for minimising the luggage you have to take.......rice paper underpants for a start.....one day's wear, next day's breakfast ! Lol!

A mate of mine (Nellples off here) used an Oxford tail pack 2 years running on his 748. Once fitted it was pretty secure and going by your description, he fitted it the same way as you have said....

...However, he had to get up about half an hour before us each morning to fit the bloody thing! Also had to use some of that rubber meshing to protect the paint around the back of the seat unit. Other than that it was pretty secure, rode for 5 days, no problemo!

Good luck

Surfboards easy......cut it in half, velcro one side to the left fairing, the other to the right, and bolt the halves together when you get to the beach.....hey presto, job's a good'un !

If you do this then make sure you fix them to the fairings correctly or we could have the first Ducati plane!
