Ducati Headstock for TomTom Mount?

The screw thing on the top of the heastock, does it serve any functional purpose? I'm thinking about fashioning a ram mount for my tomtom, but was wondering whether the removal of said item would be detrimental.

Thanks.

They normally hold the whole thing together!! i wouldnt mess with it if i where you!

My mate came around the other day and he has tom tom on his bike but hasnt got a proper mount yet! dont they do one just for bikes!

Whats wrong with trying to memorise a map and directions and then riding around lost for half an hour! lol

Yes, the screw thing helps hold the top yoke to the bottom yoke, it is also the means of adjusting to the correct torque, the steering bearings with this tool Desmo Times Product 33 - Steering Stem Tool
I'm sure you mentioned this tom tom lark a few months ago, as I'm doubly sure I posted this link for you MotoReva - Ducati Tools and Supplies look in 'Parts' tab.

Been in banter with the maker of that thing in the states but the quote I got + post became ridiculous expensive just for a ram mount.

TomTom do, but it won't fit on the ST as there are no bar risers
