Important Notice - Pembrey Circuit / PBR TD
To all Riders of Phil Bevan Trackday events @ Pembrey especially Saturday June 7th

NOISE LIMITS

Despite previous notices regarding Noise Limits at Pembrey we have found a increasing number of number of race / track originated machines clearly ignoring this rule, and as a result and direction of Pembrey Circuit are enforcing a strict 105db noise limit.

Please take note of the following :
  1. All motorcycles ridden in the event must have a fitted / working tachometer fitted.
  2. Machines will be noise tested before going 'On Circuit' and clearly marked of their ''pass''.
  3. Random noise tests will be carried out throughout the day, at various points.
  4. Riders suspected of further modifying their machines and effecting the noise level will be excluded from the event.
  5. It is the Riders responsibility to ensure their motorcycle meets these requirements.
  6. Passing a noise test at another circuit will in no way guarantee passing the test imposed on Pembrey.
  7. The use of standard 'Road Silencers' or ' DB Killer ' type of equipment is strongly advised.
  8. No refunds will be offered if machines fail the noise tests.
  9. The Noise Control Officer's decision is final on all matters.
Many Thanks

Alan, as you've listed more caveats than a loan shark's agreement, how is the noise test to be undertaken i.e. at what revs, distance from exhaust etc etc.

Its all well and good stating that no refunds are to be given and that its the responsibility of the rider, but if one can't use road silencers or DB killers (which I can't & I suspect most if not all the DD'ers won't be able to) it would be useful to have some more info.

Noise
Rod

As we ( PBRTD ) don't actually carry out the noise testing - the circuit does - for the procedures etc please contact them on 01554 891 387.

The 105 limit shouldn't effect the DD race bikes as it's the same limit as if it's a ACU race event - which is applicable at all the DD race meets this year.

For some more specific Ducati info on silencing I'd have a chat with Richie @ Lougi Moto, Bristol.

Cheers

Alan.

Most DD'ers would be able to have DB killers (I think everyone racing last year took them to Assen last year for the Friday) tho its doubtful that not all would have full tachos fitted! (we dont on one of ours, just limiter lights).
Then again, anyone doing trackdays at ANY MSV circuit is limited to 105 anyway, so will be taking precautions to keep within this, surely?

Its not rocket science tho, and cheap rev counters are usually available to purchase on ebay etc. As long as the tester knows its a twin, and does it at 50% of the rev range, and the usual required distance away, there isnt usually a problem

Pembrey is a 105db static test.

Spoke to Alan about this on the 'phone this morning.

I'll be taking a 749R with 57mm Termi's.

It's not likely to be more than 105db is it?

I usually tell them, saves them having to guess. Can you not take the standard cans along if you have rather loud ones fitted. I'm always amazed that the bigger 4 valve stuff passes sound checks but it always seems to. My 583 SS makes 104 db, but I've seen 1098's pass with no probs at Cadwell and other circuits, plus other rather loud Ducati's. Personally I'd be gutted if a DD bike was louder than my 1098 (if I had one) but they do seem to be.
