Hi Chris,

Fingers crossed for some dry tarmac. A couple of my mates did the MSV Ducati day (I think the same on as you) One guy on a 998R with track fairings (no lights etc.) the other on a 1098R.

See you there in a couple of weeks.

Gutted! I can't make it.

I think I might have had a play with your mate on the 1098R in the last session at that MSV day in July. I was confident enough by then to give it some in the corners so was able to stay with him there, but he just buggered off into the distance at the meerest hint of a straight! When we pulled in, he parked up near a 998 with track fairings.

Yep, that sounds line John on his 1098R, he's VERY fast on the straights. Sorry you can't make it Rob, would have been good to meet up.

Will be getting there early and go straight down to pit garages to get some cover. Wish I had a set of spare wheels with wets on, as I did a few track days at Donnington in the wet and wished I had them then.
Chris.

V tempted to join you on my 848.

Does anybody want a Suzuki SRAD 600 Track Bike, comes a spare set of wets on wheels? £1200. Frame/ engine numbers intact.
Great way to get into Track days, for little money. Never missed a beat.

I think there is a photo of it in my Gallery.

Let me know

Good luck and enjoy today, to those that are going to Oulton.

Hope it stays dry for you.

Let us know how it went.

Well, guess what!.... It p***ed down for most of the day. We had 2 good sessions in the morning before the monsoon came.
Most riders then switched to wets and carried on as normal but for us standard road tyre boys it was getting a bit fruity. I lost count of the number of riders going off piste throughout the day which tends to put you off a bit too.

Oulton Park is a great track, it does take a few laps to work out where you're going and where you should be on the track. you can't always see where the tarmac is going until you come over the brow of a hill. I'm not really talking from much experience as I've only been around Donnington before this. At Donny, you can see for miles and can work out your line a few corners in advance.

So, on the whole, I had a great time but just wished it'd stayed dry.
